Wealthy televangelists, or as some are referred to "Scamgelists," with outrageous claims are nothing new to Christian news. We've heard it all beforeâthe mansions, the expensive cars, the private planes etc. But this is a new take on why famous pastors need private planes. There are of course some legitimate reasons, such as their busy schedules including multiple speaking dates in a week that span different places throughout the U.S. It's hard to find a commercial flight that can get you to that many engagements. One could say don't make that many engagements then, but if the church as a whole feels like these speaking engagements are of the utmost importance for their ministry, then by all means they should feel free to start a fundraiser to buy a private plane and accomplish the work they want to do. I'm not going to judge them for choosing to buy a plane for ministry purposes, but that reasoning is not what these two pastors focused on....
Here are Duplantis and Copeland's reasons for flying privately over commercially:
1. They can't stand up on a commercial flight and talk to God out loud.
I'm pretty sure there are other ways to talk to God on a plane, but their point is that they prefer to talk to God this way when flying and because they have their own planes they can do it. I'm sure we'd all like a little more room on an airplane, but I don't think I'd consider it a primary reason for purchasing a private plane.
2. Commercial planes are long tubes filled with demons...

Hmm...can’t handle good exposition? Huffpo is better for the limp-wristed types.
And his Cadillacs?
This is a Deuteronomy 13 test for God’s people.
That one's true. They usually sit in the seat next to me.
No one has a problem with corporate jets. I fly in them from time to time. No one is asking the Gubmint to intervene. We are exposing these frauds for what they are, “wolves in sheep’s clothing). The problem is when so-called ministers of the Gospel are fleecing God’s flock with false “prosperity” promises to the poor people contributing. They are making merchandise of God’s flock.
If you can afford a private jet, it’s better than flying commercial for many reasons — scheduling, for one, but also not having to deal with the Feddie harassment at the airports.
So you have a problem with prosperity?
Are you asking from ignorance? Yes, I have a problem with false teachers claiming they are from Jesus Christ, telling poor people if you give them all your money, or the deed to your house, or your car, “God will bless you.” These people are EVIL! Go to the Philippines, Mongolia, or Vietnam and see the havoc it is reaping. People who can’t even afford their next meals are giving ALL their money to guys like Copeland, Benny Hinn, and Creflo Dollar, because or their promise to be “Rich” like them...
Some buy lottery tickets, and some contribute to the Lord.
I would add the name Rod Parsley to that list. His broadcasts aren't sermons - they're infomercials. His pitch is basically: "God wants to bless you, but he can't do it until you send me your $300.00 Faith Seed" (and the check clears.)
There are two kinds of people in this world...Those that follow televangelists and islam, and those that don’t.
I can agree with fractional leasing of a jet but for these guys to own one is ludicrous.
Pity the poor flock: they are too uninformed to know what is being done to them.
That, sir, was a clever put-down.
Yep, Parsely is a wolf
No he didnt. He had an army raping and pillaging.
Can't argue with that one.
One of them sat behind me from LA to O'Hare and read aloud from the in flight magazine. The whole way. And his voice would go up at the end of every paragraph like he was asking a question.
I had to keep reminding myself that it was not polite to duct tape your fellow passengers mouth shut.
