What he achieves, is something I think is, cinematically, very groundbreaking for audiences and that is for them to be a part of this raw, violent, savage bear attack but feel the intimacy of both man and beast.
Does the film address the reason why a bear would rape a man? Has that ever happened in real life? The whole concept is so ludicrous and DiCaprio somehow trying to give it credence means he’s nuts.
