Browns Not Commenting on Report of Johnny Manziel Trip to Las Vegas

Cleveland — Johnny Manziel’s weekend itinerary remains a mystery.

The Browns were not commenting on a report that their polarizing quarterback, who sustained a concussion last week in Kansas City, went to Las Vegas on Saturday as his teammates got ready for their season finale.

Manziel was not going to play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers because he was in the N.F.L.’s protocol on head injuries. Manziel was hurt while rushing for 108 yards in a loss to the Chiefs.

USA Today quoted an employee and patron who said they saw Manziel at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood on Saturday. The report said he ate at a restaurant in the casino and sat down at a blackjack table.

It was not clear if the team has a policy prohibiting players from traveling when they are out with an injury.

Typically, players who have concussions are sensitive to noise and light, and are encouraged to rest as they recover. The Browns do not require concussed players to be at the stadium for home games.

Johnny foots ball is making a huge error. Not only will this impact how he is seen by any team he plays on (most players are very professional) he will be unable to leverage one team against another when looking for the best contract. If he kept his nose clean, improved yearly and led his team....20+ million per year. Threw it all away for a good time, and liver damage.

It was a different day, part time players etc. You have to be sharp to succeed in the NFL of 2016.

Unless the Browns can persuade Gruden to coach, Little Johnny is gone.

The Rust Belt. Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo. Sad relics of the economic and sports behemoths they once were.

Doesn’t he have an $8M GUARANTEED contract?

I guess he plans on never playing football again. Who would want him? You don’t “do” this to teammates. You show up; you interact—even in a warm up suit.

Most players are professionals, want to win, and reign in their “own.” Don’t the Browns have a locker room leader to kick his sorry butt? I can’t help but think a James Harrison type wouldn’t have enough of Johnny and take care of straightening him out.

I get the feeling Johnny knows that Jerry needs a drinking buddy in Dallas.

I’d be willing to bet that while he was winning titles with the Lions that Bobby Layne put away a lot more alcohol than Johnny has.

That maybe true, but Bobby was able to produce wins on the field...

I think Johnny’s master plan is that he gets let go by Cleveland and gets picked up by Dallas. As stupid as it sounds....he may be thinking that in Texas...he’ll have a golden ticket. My humble feeling is that this might be the end of football for Johnny....no one will want to touch the guy, and he ends up as some insurance sales guy in Topeka, Kansas.

No matter what Jones and Dan Snyder screw up at least they have winning seasons once in a while. Cleveland however.......

Manziel is not now and never was going to Dallas. Dallas does have a shot at a QB this year with the fourth pick but they may go after a defensive tackle at pick 4. Cleveland has pick 2 and will go QB for sure. Jared Goff may be doomed.

I think Houston will take a QB since they have started like nine different ones the last two years but maybe not first round.

New England does not have a first rounder. Oh gee ;<{
