I disagree. These are national resources. I grew up out west and it is fantastic to be able to almost anywhere and it is public lands. What is happening that is a problem is (1) giving away our public lands to people like the Bundy's that won't pay for its use, to mines and so forth that get to use it for little fee, and (2) idiots that think in the extreme to close down all the roads and keep everyone out. We need middle ground--use it commercially, pay fair market price. Allow citizens to enjoy the public lands.
Consider the east coast where almost all is private--you cannot hike anywhere, it is all fenced off. Private owners control everything and you might as well be in the city as to be in the "country".
