I cut the cable about two months ago. I bought two cheap but better reception antennas for TV. I rescanned the stations. CBS, NBC, Fox and CW come in just fine. Besides them, there are a lot of options, most of them showing old TV shows. DVDs can be bought on sale for next to nothing. I'm reading more books.
Why get cable or other options? It makes no sense to pay for something that's available for free.

My dvd collection is 95 percent vintage TV and movies.
I could live without cable TV but the spouse is big on wasteful sports. At least the bill isn’t in my name.

I check out DVDs for free via my county library system. I can usually find anything current I want to see, including popular TV series.
