That's quite the stretch....
I certainly hope so, but attending church by no way means anything...
Luk 18:18 to 27
A certain ruler asked him,
âGood teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?â
"Why do you call me good?â Jesus answered. âNo one is goodâexcept God alone.
You know the commandments: âYou shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.âfnâ
âAll these I have kept since I was a boy,â he said.
When Jesus heard this, he said to him, âYou still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.â
When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy.
Jesus looked at him and said, âHow hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!
Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.â
Those who heard this asked, âWho then can be saved?â
Jesus replied, âWhat is impossible with man is possible with God.â
You’re right, of course.
What we CAN know is that he sneaked in and didn't make a big production of it, carrying a king-size Bible and waving to the cameras.
So he acknowledges that he is not the most important one here. Perhaps it is just modesty, perhaps a nod to the proprieties, perhaps a recognition of his Lord.
But whichever, it's a good sign that the man has some humility.
