One of Colorado's largest and oldest craft breweries is promising beer lovers that nothing will change even though it's being bought by beer giant Anheuser-Busch, a brand many of them love to hate.
Under a deal announced Tuesday, the maker of Budweiser said it was acquiring Breckenridge Brewery for an undisclosed amount and adding it to its craft and import brand unit, The High End.
The deal comes as major beer industry players try to make inroads in a niche market that has captured more than 10 percent of beer sales in recent years. ...

‘Nobody ever lost money by underestimating the taste (or intelligence) of the American Public.’
(Very loose paraphrase of H.L. Mencken.)
They just bought Four Peaks here in AZ as well.
Sure they will.
Don't remember trying their beer, but just aren't many beers that are as bad as A-B, and the fine folks at InBev are buying up everybody and anybody that competes on taste and quality.
What's InBev have? 40% of the world beer market?
That would be AB InBev. At least until the takeover of SAB is completed. My guess is the name will change from AB InBev to SAB InBev.
Looks like they brought a British one in between the purchase in Arizona and the purchase in Colorado. That’s 3 just since the middle of the month.
According to a quick Google search, a little over 20% before the SAB deal. SAB has close to 10%, but they will have to slice off Miller (and probably Coors).

Another beer company shot to hell.
Can’t beat ‘em? Buy ‘em.
The whole market is coming under the control of Big Beer!
I disagree, the only thing this small brewery lacked was size and a distribution network............
AB has the networking and distribution which will allow all the states access to this beer just as Coors did when they sold out..
(I was going from memory...)
“just as Coors did when they sold out”
Yeah, but prior to the ‘70s Coors made a delicious beer, but now it’s nothing but a nasty immigration Budweiser swill.
The numbers I found may be a bit old - I didn’t check the dates - and wouldn’t have included some of the recent acquisitions. So I won’t quibble with your 30%, but the 40% mentioned up thread is going to be a bit high.
Those craft beers are expensive. I still like the Coors Extra Gold in the 30 pack cans. Orange juice with Bacardi Gold is acceptable.
sigh: imitation.
Since they don’t make beer that 40% is a bit high.
I had it in the '70s from your same brewery when my parents had to bring a 6 pack home from Arizona when it was cool to do so.......
It tasted like water then and it hasn't changed........
The Borg.
