Awesome Stephen. However, in the future you need to say something along the lines that if the Bill of Rights had meant to limit “the people” to only the militia, would they have not said something like: the people who make up the militia’s shall not have their right to keep and bear arms infringed upon. They didn’t because they meant the people, period.

There are only six states that don’t have the right to keep and bear arms in their constitution. In most cases the wording is very similar, and the right of SELF-DEFENSE is specifically mentioned. Meaning that the individual should not have to depend on the militia or the police for protection. In fact, the police have no legal obligation to protect you.

Adult men were expected to be part of the militia, but the militia did not issue weapons - you were expected to PURCHASE and bring YOUR OWN INDIVIDUAL WEAPON.
