Steve Garvey and his many children conceived out of wedlock.
What's the purpose of bringing Garvey into a thread about Jackie Robinson unless it's an attempt to hijack the thread...........?
WTF's wrong with you?

In addition to Jackie, it seems inevitable that statues will also ensue for Vin Scully, Walter O’Malley, Sandy Koufax, and Tommy Lasorda—at a minimum.

I interviewed one of Howard Jones’ players at USC several years ago. He told me how Jones adjusted his defense to contain Robinson.

FYI Jackie Robinson was a “Rockefeller Republican.”

Assuming there will also be others over time, I believe Sandy Koufax was the most dominating pitcher in the game, at his peak. Sandy Koufax and Mr. Ed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVm-HwAkVp8

A shame that Bill North had the gall to take that number before it was retired. A .220 hitter with no power and adequate fielding. . . sheesh.

I have been there many times and always found the story hard to believe. But he could throw the football 70 yards they say. If one can throw it that far, it may be possible to throw it out.
One reason I mentioned it was to see if anyone had also heard the story,

Iâd add Drysdale.......Agree.
I saw two of his games during the scoreless streak. It was awesome. 53,000 people standing for every pitch.

Never heard the football story BUT Duke did trash his arm out in a 1959(?) contest between he and Don ‘Popeye’ Zimmer about which one of them could possibly throw a baseball completely out of the Coliseum.

The Coli has over 90 rows. Even a baseball is daunting—a football impossible.
