Recently, the following came out to support him: Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council, James Dobson, and Richard Viguerie, a conservative leader

And those are the guys you think can unite the country?

Are you nuts?

“which candidate is most aligned with our Founding principles”

As if that is something voters today even comprehend. Not only can they not tell you what any founding principals are, they can’t name who the Founders were.

So you really believe this article, in the Age of Kardashian and Instagram?

So which candidate is most aligned with our Founding principles? ...

If this were the case he wouldn’t even be running.

Ted Cruz is far and away the most intelligent, the most educated, the most articulate and the most closely aligned with the Founders' vision.

The founders were wild eyed patriots and nationalist first and foremost. They were protectionist and financed the govt with excise taxes and tariffs.

This is totally not aligned with any GOPe candidate, even Cruz.

By that standard Trump is more inline with the founders.

That truth demands an answer to a straightforward question: Which candidate is a true statesman, able to unify this country?

Do you read any of the polls??? Cruz is not the one unifying the country...

The question that should be asked to Cruz is: 'What is your position on the proposed (by your wife) North American Union'...That will tell us where Cruz is on the New World Order...

Hillary could ignore anything and everything that Cruz would say about her, to the press or in a debate.

She will not be able to ignore Trump.

Trump is the only candidate who can beat Hillary.

So stop getting goo-goo eyed over Cruz. The media is obsessed with Trump, and Hillary soon will be (she’s starting to REALLY take him seriously now and he is countering her very effectively). He gets ten times too attention and coverage as Cruz. Most voters probably don’t even know Cruz’s first name. I guarantee EVERYONE knows Trump’s first name.

All of the Republican candidates would be better than Hillary, but only one can defeat her.

Trump.

So which candidate is most aligned with our Founding principles? Trump.

Which one is most like Reagan or Washington or Lincoln or JFK? Trump.

Which person cherishes liberty in a way that inspires a majority? Trump.

Which candidate stands on principle before party, patriotism before partisanship? Trump.

Which one is tough enough to see it through, smart enough to adapt when necessary, and who can most effectively debate and defeat Hillary Clinton? Trump: no contest.

Which candidate is most feared by Communists and Jihadis alike? Trump: even Putin blinked.

Which one will restore liberty and justice for all? Trump.

Which candidate can fire up the Hispanic and evangelical vote like no other?a) Cruz; b) Rubio.

And which individual shows both appropriate restraint, and genuine concern for the public good? a Cruz; b) Trump.

Which candidate is the selfless public servant most trusted to keep promises? Trump. He is risking his fortune and personal security.

Which one has the best plan to achieve economic revitalization? Trump, hands down.

Hand Cruz the nomination because reasons?

This isn’t affirmative action. Get out there and win it.

The candidate will unite the nation is the one who will rebuild the armed forces and stay out of wars when we are not attacked. That let’s out all the GOP and all the Democrats so I’ll do a write-in if I find one. Maybe Buchanan if he is still alive.

Ok, I’ll add my 2 cents.
Unless and until our country understands the relationship between morality and the ability of a candidate (whether that be Trump or Cruz) to not be corrupted, we really don’t have much of a chance to turn things around. We have lost representative government because corruption is so rampant. There are always going to be more immoral people than moral, but in the past our side would still win occasionally even though we had a minority. Today, our minority is a lot smaller and most folks moral ideas are not based on anything eternal - just the shifting sands of popular, fickle culture.

I see Cruz as more principled and constitutionally based (and he’s my guy, though I’d vote for Trump) but you have to say that Trump is popular far and away because he is seen as the more “cigar smok’in, kick butt and take names” kind of guy. Honesty, people want revenge, they want the “give into your anger Luke - you know you want this light saber” due to their frustration. I get that - but in the long run that might not turn things around the way we might hope. I actually wish we could turn Trump loose and then have Cruz come in afterwards to do all the policy stuff, get a few Supreme Court picks, and return us to more representative government - if that’s even possible at this point. True wisdom and understanding come only from God. How many people in America today really want what God is offering? That’s why we’re in the mess we’re in. It’s give me my stuff NOW! Neither Trump or Cruz will “fix” America without national repentance. We may get a “pause” from the head long rush to destruction, but that’s all we may get - if even we get that. Hillary and the Dems will stop at nothing and will do anything - vote cheating, murder or marshal law (or all of the above) - to achieve their ends. Add in 20 to 30 million “new” citizens from third world countries and the middle east and it just gets better. As you can tell, I’m not very optimistic about our future.
