Agreed. I’m close to Pittsburgh. Why would I go to Applebee’s when for a little more, I can go to Bock Town, 6 Penn, Butcher in the Rye . . . I could go on. I’d rather go out to eat less often and eat at these places than go to a chain restaurant. Plus, my kids (7 and under) are also foodies. I love watching the looks on peoples’ faces when they request guacamole, sweet potatoes with cinnamon only, and medium grilled salmon.

Well for those of you that can tolerate Applebees:

Do their MysteryValue promotion for the price of a stamped postcard. One a day. They send you the gift code entry via email.

I would eat there every day if I had one close enough until this promo ends.

Google it if you want to try it. Most of my free gift cards have been for $10 but I have gotten $5 and $25.

I will even do the get a free piece of chicken at Churchs for doing a survey.

Sounds like how my kids are, well more so my daughter. We have a lot of little local places where you can eat cheaper than at the local chains. It reminds we of when I lived on Japan and there were little ramen places all over where you could eat good food cheap.

What the chains do have going for them is their coupons.

BTW, I lived in Canonsburg for about a year. I had the best Gyros ever there. Polish and Italian sausages and Pizza were the best.
