I think a fair number of the kids that get into Ivy League schools have simply learned good study skills and how to regurgitate what the teachers/professors want. They don’t have to be smart. And the level of focus needed to keep so singularly tuned into getting good grades may well have come at the cost of common sense and actually thinking a situation through to its likely conclusion.
I could very well be wrong. Took some community college and don’t have a degree hanging on my wall, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
Even when my now adult progeny were thinking about college, I said NO IVY LEAGUE, because those colleges were uber lefty then.
