HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Charges have been filed against a man who stopped traffic on a busy freeway for a marriage proposal.
The proposal happened on the North Freeway near downtown Houston on Sunday. Eyewitness News learned Tuesday that Harris County District Attorney's Office is charging Vidal Valladares, 24, with obstruction of highway, a class b misdemeanor.
We spoke with the couple on Tuesday, as Valladares said he was going downtown to answer to the charges.
"I'm feeling bad, and of course," said Valladares. "I'm wanting to apologize to everyone if I caused any problems. That wasn't my intention in the beginning. I just wanted to do something different."
"He just proposed . It's not like he did it, I don't know,' said Valladares' fiance, Michelle Wycoff. "It's hard and knowing the fact; We find it scary, you know. And we're really sorry."
Both Valladares and Wycoff say they were surprised about the charges. Valladares said he just wanted to do something different. He says it knows it was crazy and dangerous, but he's in love and it was worth it.

But BLM can do it in just about every major American city and get away with it? Curious, have there been any in Houston?
Won’t be long before their marriage is on the skids.
yeah, that is way weird!
It was a Sunday and a spur-of-the-moment occasion. I would have just let it pass. It’s not like he picked a rush-hour Monday.
Personally, I’d find a setting more romantic but, heck, lovers do dumb things. It’s not criminal.
Just an aside about marriage proposals. In Atlanta, a couple went to watch an Astros game back in 1975 when both teams were terrible. But the man had ulterior motives for dragging his girlfriend to the game. He had arranged with the Braves to flash his wedding proposal on the Fulton County Stadium scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Dan sat with Mary Ann and waited for his big moment. In the fourth inning, it started to rain...and rain...and rain. The game was called after 40 minutes.
Nonetheless, the pair ignored the omen and returned the next night where the proposal was done and Mary Ann said “yes”. Wonder how those two turned out?
Wow I just read the first 45 responses and it seems everyone is criticising him.
I sort of like this. I presume she said yes, well done dude.
Does anybody, ya know, understand what she's saying, ya know?
Just another narcissistic jackass.
Just saying.
I lived for quite a while in Los Angeles, I have been through some serious freeway delays.
Trust me. :D
Great way to start a marriage, you dipwad
His and hers probation officers
I cannot imagine anyone who has ever driven Houston freeways having the thought of stopping cross their minds.
He might as well have done it in the middle of the track at the Daytona 500. It might even be safer.
A Modern Day Romance
“Will you m” SPLAT!

Lol....Freudian slip.

I wonder how he proposed to his first wife.
