Texas senator and aspiring GOP presidential nominee Ted Cruz is widely depicted by liberal amnesty backers as a diehard enemy of their brand of immigration reform.
While Cruz voted against the 2013 "Gang of Eight" immigration bill and has strongly opposed President Barack Obama's executive amnesty plans, he has also taken positions that sound strikingly different from those of staunch amnesty opponents such as Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions.
Sessions, for example, has been sharply critical of expanding the number of H-1B visas, pointing to abuses in the program and arguing that it harms American workers.
But speaking with Javier Palomarez, president of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, on Wednesday afternoon, Cruz declared that "there is no stronger advocate for legal immigration in the U.S. Senate than himself," The Weekly Standard reported.
The Texas Republican pointed to his support for an amendment to the Gang of Eight bill two years ago that would expand the number of H-1B visas.

Ahem. Ted Cruz did not support the Gang of Eight Bill in any way shape or form.
This article is all about the H1-B visa expansion not Gang of Eight reform.

Now that Barry went beyond “amnesty” and has opened America’s borders, I see no need for “immigration” reform.
We need to shut down the H1B program.

Rush couldn't be more wrong. First, the Gang of 8 bill passed the Senate 68-32 with 14 Reps voting with the Dems. Second, it was Jeff Sessions who wrote the briefing paper on the Gang of 8 bill that was distributed to all Rep members of the House. Finally, Sessions met with Rep House members to urge them to kill the bill. Ted Cruz really had very little to do with this effort. I know because I was involved in this effort as a grassroots immigration group, which lobbies on the Hill.
Jeff Sessions is the go to guy on immigration for conservatives.
No more immigration would be a reform.
A few Cruz accomplishments include:
- Silence during Mississippi RNC voter fraud
- Voting for the infamous Corker bill
- Voting for TPA
- Now pushing Pathway Amnesty for the 40+ MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS in America
Only Trump is using the “D” word - i.e. DEPORT ALL and then allow only legal & pro-American immigrants to return.
Time to stop importing and start DEPORTING!

Where does Cruz stand on reducing legal immigration? Trump promises to reduce legal immigration from its current level of 1.1 million a year down to historic levels, around 200,000 a year.

The left-leaning network asked Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies about the Texas Republican's position.
Krikorian indicated that Cruz was trying to have it both ways, suggesting that his position was: "I'm against amnesty, but amnesty doesn't include giving these people work permits."
"Really? Then Obama didn't give amnesty to all those people," Krikorian said sardonically.
