Bad movies only get better with expert heckling. "Mystery Science Theater 3000," aka MST3K, riffs on truly horrible films with the help of a human and his robot buddies.
So it only makes sense that its fans have put their money where their laughs are and helped raise millions of dollars for a new season.
With this successful Kickstarter campaign almost completed, fans of the original MST3K will have a chance to watch new episodes with a new cast, new cameos and a new writing staff.
Since this is a continuation of the series and not a reboot, they also will have new characters who will be part of the same family of mad scientist characters from the original series. This means new cameos as well.
In the latest campaign update as of Thursday, creator Joel Hodgson announced an impressive lineup of celebrities that could end up appearing as cameos in the new series if it reaches its final funding goal of $5.5 million.
Actors and comedians Jack Black, Joel McHale, Bill Hader and Neil Patrick Harris have expressed an interest in being on the show. But even bigger names like Jerry Seinfeld and Mark Hamill are also being recruited for the new series.
While these cameos seem to be missing any women from the lineup, Hodgson said he would love to see some funny females on the new series too.

My dad can’t stand the Stooges. He’s a Laurel and Hardy guy
They’ll probably have a tranny as one of the hosts. ( I came close to sending some $$. Glad I didn’t)
“The Crawling Eye” was just to intense for me.
I got “The Ghoul” out of Deeeeetroit growing up. Some of those movies scared the crap out of 10 year old Dynachrome.
Mark got to save a hooker in the movie. Does it get any better than that ?
They surpassed the 5.5m goal. My grown kids contributed. We love MST3K here.
IIRC , Hamil was badly disfigured in a car accident . Lots of surgeries . He never did look the same . I’ll give him a pass on his aging ability .
Funny thing is I just saw The Ghoul the 24th of October here in Detroit at The Redford Theatre. He hosted “Monster Zero”. It was a Hoot! Place was packed for an Afternoon & Evening show. Signed autographs and slepped his wares. Mentioned he was going to be back on the Detroit airwaves on Comcast next year. Pluck you magic twanger!!
Fly like a squirrel, Gonna swim like a chicken, Gonna weedwack a plate of noodles in the afternoon, Gonna melt like a weasel, Gonna fry like a kid, Gonna get my walkie talkie, and some mustard and some mayonnaise, and a mermaid, and some macaroni, bricks, and some telephone wires, and phone machines, and a fax machine, and a...(laughing)
Smoking and drinking do age you!
Cool beans!

We may get such memorable lines as “Must miss!” or “That’s gotta hurt!”
Maybe they’ll do “Plan Nine From Outer Space.”
I miss that show.
I watch some of the YouTube stuff every once in a while.
