The only reason why the poor young man went unidentified all these years was because his own mother refused to file a missing person’s report insisting he had just decided to not have contact with his family. She only filed the report very recently.

There was a "mystery" tv show segment about this, some time ago, same information -- but with the poignant addition of a note he had in his pocket, a first name and phone number of a girl he met and probably never got to, uh, date.
