Igor and I took the kids to see the Nutcracker by the Oakland Ballet and Oakland Symphony Orchestra. It was the second time I had seen it; the first time was in Salt Lake City.
The kids remembered it for a long time. I wanted to go see the Bolshoi perform Swan Lake, but couldn’t get tickets. What a disappointment!
I saw the Nutcracker long ago, in Corpus Christi, I think. DP and I saw “Giselle” done by the Kirov Ballet in San Antonio, their first American tour ever, iirc.
Today’s performance is the Union County Youth Ballet.

Memories. Back in 1979, my future wife DEMANDED that I get tickets to the Bolshoi Ballet, as they were coming to Los Angeles. It was a Saturday night performance, and the night before, one member asked for asylum. The night we attended, another asked for, and was granted asylum. Moscow then cancelled the rest of the scheduled performances, and issued a peremptory summons for the Bolshoi to return to Russia. They didn’t return for years. LOL
