On his Monday night program, Conservative Review contributor and radio talk show host Steve Deace dropped a truth bomb.
Donald Trump is running the "ultimate troll job" on the American media and the Republican Party.
Everything Trump says is designed to make Trump president. He doesn't believe anything he says, his statements are all contrived. Trump is that easy to understand.
Audio at Link.
When Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard at Glenfinnian, that army that rallied wasn’t about HIM, it was about THEM.
Seems the article has been deleted.
“No matter the issue, thereâs a contradicting statement and itâs being deliberately done on purpose. This is part of the ânegotiationâ process Trump describes in âThe Art of the Dealâ.
Except, those comments are not contradictory.
âThe final key to the way I promote is bravado. I play to peopleâs fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. Thatâs why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular. I call it truthful hyperbole. Itâs an innocent form of exaggeration - and a very effective form of promotion.â
“When I read this, I realized what was going on. The manâs trolling.”
But it is not trolling, not even close. It is simply effective psychology and deal making. It is partly boosterism, which is necessary for any organization be it basketball team or a great nation, and partly creating a sense of greater purpose, neither of which is trolling.
LOL!
Good question. I'd be interested to know myself. I would say though Trump doesn't have much to worry about until or unless Levin publicly turns on him. With all due respect to this Steve Deace guy.
Listening to Levin the other night it didn't sound like he thought Trump was "trolling". I don't listen to him very regularly though.
Do you think Trump is conservative?
I thought you posted on anther thread about hanging out with Carl Rove?
Yes, it’s still gone now. I wonder if Levin had it pulled?
Oh never mind. It looks like it just got moved.
Looking at the link closely, it actually seems to be an ad for Deace’ podcasts.
Deace is an authentic conservative with a Christian perspective. No reason conservatives need to agree on everything, even at one publication.
As opposed to the eGOP which gives us liberal milquetoast candidates like Romney and Bush??
The RNC is all but dead now.
Yes. Wasn’t hanging out with him, just shook his hand and had a visit in the airport.
Well said
Yeah... that’s the link... Still says 404 not found.
‘Deace is an authentic conservative with a Christian perspective.’
How is it a Christian POV to pontificate that Trump doesn’t mean one word he says? Is Deace sufficiently God-like to know that when Trump says he’s a patriot, he’s lying? Deace supernaterally knows that when Trump says he loves the USA, he actually means he either hates it or couldn’t care less? When Trump says he wants to do what’s best for America, Deace transcendently knows Trump actually wants to harm America? When Trump says he wants America to win, Deace knows he really wants us to lose?
Interesting.
It worked fine when I posted it.
Maybe Levin has an objection to Deace’ tone in the piece.
Lot of other Deace stuff still on CR, including several other pieces on Trump.
I listen to Deace everyday. He admires and enjoys Trump immensely. By “troll” Deace means that Trump is deliberately and profoundly provocative.
Deace is a very hard guy to like. As I mentioned, he no longer has a radio political pulpit in Iowa, and home-schoolers seem to be the audience that listens to him, and that’s where his influence lies.
Deace’ endorsement is only interesting to me because his would be the endorsement that a candidate like Carson, Jindal, Huckabee or even Rubio would crave for its Evangelical angle. The fact the he chose Cruz but feels compelled to scathingly attack Trump indicates to me that Deace sees Trump making inroads into what Deace considers his people.
Most likely.
