Senators Cruz and Paul Use the "M" Word, Moratorium! Trump Follows

Be still my beating heart! There it is, out there, the M-word! Several of them in fact! Moratorium on Muslim Migration!

I started to write this post yesterday, then spent the day running out to the doctor (nothing is fast with doctors these days, have you noticed that) and as I'm trying to read news on my phone, the Cruz and Paul news was eclipsed by The Donald news when he jumped on the bandwagon.

However, all of the news reports I was reading and hearing claimed Donald Trump was alone in his call for a ban on Muslim migration to America. He was actually the third Presidential candidate to make that call. Trump called it a "ban," but that sounds like moratorium to me.

This is what I started to write about yesterday from Julia Hahn at Breitbart. She has Senator Cruz uttering the word and I heard Senator Paul say it on Fox News yesterday morning!

trump paul cruz ap ap reuters Separating themselves from the pack in a big way!

Presidential candidates Sens. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) are demanding a halt to immigration from Muslim nations with jihadist movements.

Their fellow contender, Sen. Marco Rubio, did not call for curbs to Muslim immigration in his live response to the President address on Fox News , a response promoted by Rubio’s campaign.

Cruz tweeted that if elected president, "I will shut down the broken immigration system that is letting jihadists into our country." Cruz elaborated in a statement:

The President should place an immediate moratorium on refugees from countries with a significant al Qaeda or ISIS presence, such as Syria. I've introduced legislation to make this happen; it is not a desired step, but a necessary step for the security of the United States.

Similarly, Rand Paul tweeted, "While ‪@POTUS paid lip service to this fight, he plans to keep failed rules in place & allow tens of thousands of refugees to enter the US."

"Immigration visas & refugees from countries with active terror networks must be halted while we determine how to better secure our borders," Paul in a separate tweet. "His administration is focused on gun laws that won’t stop terrorists while pushing policies that will let more of them in the country," Paul wrote.

A moratorium on all immigration plus we need to end visa less travel to the US and institute exit control so we document departures and hunt down overstays.

I’m not sure Trump has the depth to handle Hillary or Sanders in a debate. Of course they are wrong on the issues, but both have polished their line of B.S. for decades. Cruz can take anyone apart in a debate. I think Cruz can win the general comfortably. He was told he couldn’t win against the Texas political machine until he did, by over 14 points.

Some of those obstacles will be gone before long with high profile retirements.

I personally think a president Cruz would sidestep current leadership and create de-facto leadership in both parties that he would go to to get things done.

The current GOP leadership that hates senator Cruz today will wait in line to lick the boots of president Cruz tomorrow. Its just who they are.

Nope. According to the news clips and twitter, Cruz and Paul were the first to speak of a moratorium.

And yet when asked about Trump’s statement, Cruz said: that is not my policy.

So according to Cruz, Trump is advocating something Cruz does not advocate. What could that be?

Also: Cruz and Paul could write their policy on their rear ends and stick them outside the GMA studio window at 7 AM and still not get publicity.

Trump has staked his ground in the most far right extreme position. Cruz can pick up more voters and grow his base of support by leading on this issue as he has with a more sensible approach yet still on the right. Trump also showed his inconsistency by attacking Pam Geller as a far right extremist, and yet takes a far right extreme “ban all Muslims” position.

Cruz has been leading on this issue all along. We have some obstacles in the Senate that need to be removed.

Then why did Cruz disavow Trump’s statement?

LOL! That would be a picture!

I’m sure we will hear exactly what Cruz meant, just as soon as the media takes a break from ignoring him.

Op-ed: How U.S. can stop ISIS September 10, 2014 | Sen. Ted Cruz

First and foremost, Washington should resolve to make border security a top priority finally, rather than an afterthought, of this plan in light of concerns about potential ISIS activities on our southern border, cited in a Texas Department of Public Safety bulletin reported by Fox News.

Second, Congress should make fighting for or supporting ISIS an affirmative renunciation of American citizenship. Numerous Americans have joined ISIS along with hundreds of others from the European Union.

Third, we should do everything possible to make ISIS understand there are serious ramifications for threatening to attack the United States and for killing American civilians. While damaging ISIS' financial assets is certainly a part of this action, because of the very nature of ISIS, the response must be principally military. We should concentrate on a coordinated and overwhelming air campaign to destroy the capability of ISIS to carry out terrorist attacks on the United States.

He didn’t disavow it....just indicated this was not his specific policy preference. These guys are somewhat close on this issue though not exactly the same...and Cruz was ahead on it as well.

If CRUZ does win the general, I hope all of Trump supporters will support him. I know I will 100%, but we may have some of those who will just sit it out, just because. IDIOTS.

There’s an obvious difference between “all” and “from Muslim nations with jihadist movements. “.
There’s also great concern, which I assume Cruz shares, about holes in our general visa program.

Cruz’ campaign is most frustrating.
Trump stepped in front of Cruz though there’s miniscule difference between them here .

We need a moritorium on all immigration to give us some time to sort things out and figure out a system and immigration goals that will work. that will work.

When asked yesterday Cruz said what Trump is suggesting is not his policy. So he’s not for a moratorium.

He didnt disavow it....just indicated this was not his specific policy preference.

I have not seen the word “specific” anywhere. What I have seen is “Not my policy,” period. Cruz is disavowing something in that categorical statement.

But the bigger point is the bigger point, regardless. Trump just spun the room. Cruz did not, and probably cannot. (I love Cruz, btw).

There is a tide in the affairs of men. Trump for all his faults and imperfections is the tide, for non-leftists.

We are at flood in this election.

Nice to see Trump, Cruz and Paul all on the same side regarding migration from Muslim countries.
