The zombie apocalypse, it would seem, is an infinite source of story inspiration. What would individuals become? What would humanity devolve to? What would the world turn into? And yet somehow, The Walking Dead has managed to become the most boring show on television. Granted, I do not watch every single show on TV (because even work-from-home writers need to shower sometimes), but I can say with fair certainty Iâd rather watch that show about Alaskan prospectors than AMCâs zombie saga. And when I say that I mean an episode where they prospect almost nothing at all. Thatâs how boring The Walking Dead has become.
(Itâs worth mentioning here that Iâm about to get into some spoilers, but most of them are a few seasons old by now. With that being said, letâs get on with the showâ¦)
Let me qualify this announcement: TWD wasnât always boring. It had a strong start, and a gripping first few seasons that might be comparable to Lost, another show which long outstayed its welcome. When viewers first entered the world of TWD, as we did with Lost, we were immediately thrown into the middle of catastrophe. The first episode of TWD taps into a very specific, very universal apocalypse anxiety. Namely, that is that the apocalypse will happen when weâre not looking, and that weâll walk out into it alone, with no context for what happened, and no information about the state the world is in. And like Lost, thereâs the mystery of the CDC, which is very Dharma Initiative-y, and the hermit scientist Jenner is very Desmond inside the hatch-y (although not half as handsome).
Indeed, TWDâs first season is responsible for some of the most iconic imagery in recent television history.

According to your friends, you're already there...........Shower much?....LOL!
How did I know I would get that?
Spoken by someone who has no zombies outside THEIR door and still has running water, both hot and cold...and conditioner shampoo....... /h
What I find annoying is they are scripting the same old stupid moves over and over. They do no seem to learn from past mistakes. Well, Carol seems to learn. I agree, I am finding the show particularly annoying because of this nonsense.
I know early on they tried to pass the cause off as some kind of virus, but it’s obviously impossible.
That's pretty easy to explain. The guys on the cycles are armed with rifles and shotguns, Daryl and his crew are in the cab of a truck and have been forced to come to a stop.
In order to access the armaments in the back of the truck they have to exit the cab.
If they choose to try to run thru the gauntlet of motorcycles, the armed guys will simply step back and away and let the truck disable itself on the motorcycles since there is no way any truck can drive over those cycles without damaging the front end and becoming completely disabled.
Sometimes the most obvious answer is the easiest to ignore............
All of the mid season finale could have done in fifteen minutes with the last 45 dating with Negan.
Heck, I'd be satisfied if they just changed the oil every couple hundred miles ...
That’s because it’s about the human drama, not the zombies...they’re just backdrop. My sister-in-law and her husband dislike the horror genre, but they watched one episode and became hooked.
As a Southerner, I'm perfectly fine with it, because British actors do much better Southern accents. Most American actors mangle them.
That RPG has to play into the story somewhere
Honestly, that’s kinda worrisome, because you aren’t the only person I’ve talked to who is feeling that way.
I love the show, but yeah, it has a few issues that need addressing. There are so many redshirts...stop bringing in all these people no one gives a rip about and expecting us to care if they get killed. I can’t think of one Alexandrian I’ve warmed up to.
Also, I want Daryl’s mean edge back. They’ve turned him into too much of a softie. For God’s sake, they had him trusting people who took him hostage at gunpoint.
Something has happened.
Two possibilities Laz: First, either your DVR is malfunctioning or you are now succumbing to SAD......(Seasonal Affective Disorder)........
It happens when summer comes to an end and the winter doldrums set in...
Be thankful that you don't live here in Michigan where the winters can be really depressing and you kinda loose interest in things that you previously enjoyed...........
It's a passing thing if you can find other outlets......
Keep in mind that Daryl is driving a FUEL truck. And it’s not like Abraham has the RPG all ready to go - it’s not even in his hands.
Jim needs to fix the site. This is getting old.
I'm sorry I said it but I couldn't resist...........Please accept my apology.
Yeah, they are fagging Daryl up bad.
He only was good when he was a badass. He’s actually one of the guys I tuned in to see. Him, and “how whacked out will Rick get today.” I kinda also liked Hershel, with his “Yeah, I’m a preacher-type Bible guy, but ***K THESE ZOMBIES *BAM* *BAM* *BAM*”.
I actually liked the Greene Farm arc better than this Alexandria Safe Zone arc. These people wouldn’t have had NO experience, they would have repelled some raiders before. Unrealistic. Some of the morons would have been already culled.
And from what little I’ve seen of the season, I TOTALLY CANNOT GET WITH MORGAN’S PACIFIST CRAP.
Jeez.
I will watch the remaining expisodes, but it has gone from a joy to a chore I keep putting off.
The only character that has gotten seriously better is Carol.
TIVO is working great and Atlanta is so sunny, S.A.D. is hard to get.
Third option is the charm: The storylines are starting to suck and the mental-places they are taking the characters is losing my interest.
They need to stop fagging Daryl and Morgan up.
They really HAVE done a bangup job on Southern accents. We’re not “Deliverance” characters here. My only complaint is that every time Rick is looking for his son, it’s “CORAL! CORAL! CORAL!!!”
