The Walking Dead has become the most boring show on television

The zombie apocalypse, it would seem, is an infinite source of story inspiration. What would individuals become? What would humanity devolve to? What would the world turn into? And yet somehow, The Walking Dead has managed to become the most boring show on television. Granted, I do not watch every single show on TV (because even work-from-home writers need to shower sometimes), but I can say with fair certainty I’d rather watch that show about Alaskan prospectors than AMC’s zombie saga. And when I say that I mean an episode where they prospect almost nothing at all. That’s how boring The Walking Dead has become.

(It’s worth mentioning here that I’m about to get into some spoilers, but most of them are a few seasons old by now. With that being said, let’s get on with the show…)

Let me qualify this announcement: TWD wasn’t always boring. It had a strong start, and a gripping first few seasons that might be comparable to Lost, another show which long outstayed its welcome. When viewers first entered the world of TWD, as we did with Lost, we were immediately thrown into the middle of catastrophe. The first episode of TWD taps into a very specific, very universal apocalypse anxiety. Namely, that is that the apocalypse will happen when we’re not looking, and that we’ll walk out into it alone, with no context for what happened, and no information about the state the world is in. And like Lost, there’s the mystery of the CDC, which is very Dharma Initiative-y, and the hermit scientist Jenner is very Desmond inside the hatch-y (although not half as handsome).

Indeed, TWD’s first season is responsible for some of the most iconic imagery in recent television history.

Our family used to watch JAG and do the same thing. Pick it apart. We enjoyed it, but even more, we enjoyed picking it apart. LOL

You’re the one who started in with the wise ass remarks, “Soo”, “duh”, “hmmm”. In any case, my 2 negative comments on the series were in response to others who also couldn’t understand the popularity of it.

“I typically tune out shows about the occult such as this.”

Then I take it you don’t watch the Democrat debates?

You can tell by his demeanor that he is gritting his teeth and just waiting for his chance.....

I saw the clip again on TTD, and after they get out and the guy starts talking, the camera cuts to Daryl and he's quickly checking out the guys on his side. Looked to me that he's figuring out the odds of survival and realize that they wouldn't have a chance. I was happy that even if they are disarmed and 'dis-trucked', he won't have lost his crossbow to these guys.

I'm betting that he gets it back pretty soon, somehow.

Glad to see another faithful fan on this thread who isn't 'bored'.
