I’m confused. Is Microsoft evil for updating you software whether you wanted or not, or are they evil for letting you choose whether or not to install the updates?

I came very close to trying Windows 10 again. It was downloaded, but the install just sat there for what seemed like forever. So I rebooted and forgot about it.
Then I see all these horror stories.
I see Linux Mint just rolled out 17.3 version!

Thing-makers have a dreadful track record of implementing patches, as the SOHOpeless state of routers and industrial control kit demonstrate. Yup. That's one of the reasons I went to a DD-WRT router for the house.
