Although the name of the group was very familiar, I had no idea what songs they did, not liking much of anything since the 80s. So I just gave a listen. As expected, I didn’t really care for it. To me, they sounded very similar to Hooty and the Blowfish, who’s music I could also live without. Still, it’s sad to hear he’s died, and so young.

It was more hard rock alternative than Hooty and the Blowfish.

When they came out, the comparison was to Pearl Jam. Very much Seattle-sound, grunge.

Probably best to stick to other topics you have more understanding of, STP had a very signature sound right up there with AIC, Sound Garden, Nirvana etc...epic bands that sound nothing like HATB.

I just listened again and now realize their style of music is not very much like Hootie and the Blowfish’s, who I’m not much familiar with either. What I should have said, knowing what I know now, is that the lead singer’s voice, IMO, sounds a little like the lead singer’s of HATBF, at least on this song...
