he Super Bowl is an annual celebration of Just Guy Things: homoerotic tight pants, dude-on-dude grappling, sports, balls, brews, and chili. Conversely, the Super Bowl halftime show is an incredibly flamboyant tribute to all things over the top, featuring big-name celebrities, elaborate pyrotechnics, and some of the best wardrobes (and wardrobe malfunctions) this side of the 2001 VMAs. No one has ever adequately explained the pairing of these two inherently disparate spectacles, and itâs difficult to imagine the Venn diagram of dedicated sports enthusiasts and people who are psyched to watch an extended Bruno Mars medley. Nonetheless we, the non-sports fans of America, are annually grateful for the Super Bowl halftime show, the saving grace of every game and the highlight of every Super Bowl party (also, a reassuring reminder that weâve already made it through half of the Super Bowl).

Where do they find this has-beens to play there???
The only decent one was The Stones
Will the perform a conscious uncoupling?
Until I looked at the author's name, I thought a queer must have written it.
I thought Bruno Mars put on a good show.
I thought Bruno Mars put on a good show.
As I recall, that was the last time I paid any attention at all to the halftime show.
Halftime is when you take the dog for a walk, hit the can, and make sure there’s enough food for the 2nd half.
Then again, depending on who's playing, they might upstage the game... ;)
Perhaps they will play their new song in which they included Barack Obama singing?
Best Halftimes Shows:
1) Prince-2007—phenomenal!!!
2) Tom Petty-2008—simple set—well done...
3) Bruce Springsteen —2009-a lefty but puts on a great show
4) U2—2002-—911 tribute was great
5) Stones 2006-—just because Kieth can still bring it...
This sort of stuff doesn’t belong at football games. Bring back marching bands!
Did a queer write it? Why pick an author that hates football, and men, to write about the Super Bowl.
Anyone who understands football at least a little, and who has grown up with it, couldn’t help to tear up a little watching Bart Starr embrace Brett Favre when Favre’s number was retired.
Anyone who’s ever wanted five more minutes with your grandfather couldn’t help choking up a little. Starr had real trouble making that date, but was determined to be there for Favre.
Starr was looking at Favre, remembering what it was like to be Favre, and Favre was looking at Starr coming to the realization he was headed to where Starr is.
And Rodgers was looking on, knowing one of these days Favre will come out a much older man to help retire Rodger’s number.
I’m not a Packer fan, by any stretch, but you can’t really deny that the Packers are the ‘people’s team’. They are owned by the people of Green Bay.
Kenny Stabler died this year. The Snake was something else. He was Terry Bradshaw’s arch-enemy.
It’s a great game, for all its flaws.
(Spoken as one who from childhood through the mid eighties was an avid Football Fan.)
The touch football league is hell bent on putting teams in England,so they can sell the rubes a 9:30 Sunday package. Goodall,Kraft and Jones can go F themselves!
Coldplay has some of the only songs I’ll stop on the fm dial to listen to. If the prerequisite is politics, you might as well throw your radio and tv out the window.
The last superbowl halftime show I watched had a marching band.
First I would have to watch it.
