I carried a 1911 then an M9 in the service.
Carried a 1911 commander for a while as a civilian but as I got older and attire for work changed, I switched to a subcompact 9mm.
Last year, the world started feeling more dangerous and I upgraded to a 10mm double stack pistol, bag carry. But in a world where the bad guys show up with rifles and today with rifles, armor and bombs, any pistol seem pretty anemic.
I'm curious what other freepers carry or are thinking about self defense in the world that Zero has given us.
Braggart.
Going with something on the C&R list. Very nice.

Happy Birthday!
Happy Shopping!
>>Thatâs my thinking and the reason for this post.
My main requirement is no ballistic nylon or leather. I want it to look like something a harmless little college snowflake would carry. ;-)
I’ve made a lot of bad decisions in my life. Selling my Belgian Hi Power is in the top ten.

Any decent caliber will do. Go to the range, practice hitting what you aim at. Lose weight and get in shape. In an emergency you’re going to have to MOVE.
Sig P227 SAS
Sometimes I think it’s too big, and will carry my LC9....but, man I love that sig
It ain't the size of the dog in the fight, It's the size of the fight in the dog.

With Black tip M2AP!
I will say C.B. knew his guns!
I had not had my Hi-Power out of the safe since Sandy Hook, due to the ammo prices, I’ve just been shooting my Buckmark .22.
I took it to the range Sunday and it reminded me why it is my favorite gun. Completely agree with everything you said.
A true masterpiece.
I’ll assume that every time a thread is posted here about a shooting in the ‘hood and some idiot FReeper makes the usual ‘Amish’ comment, that you rip them a new one.
No?
It's a snubby, so it conceals well, even if it weighs 4 lbs.

Ruger LCS 9mm. I’ve taken to carrying every where now. It fits nicely in a IWB holster and barely shows under a t-shirt.

No. Because the Amish joke doesn’t imply cowardice and fear. Not calling you a coward, but the joke itself is rooted in a fearfulness of admitting that we are indeed armed and will remain that way. We are Americans. We don’t hide one flag and wave another while the Nazis are in town. We wave our own flag and shoot the Nazis.
You will feel like it was molded just to fit your hand only........
I’m old and broken, if trouble comes, I have two choices, stand and take it or stand and fight. I won’t be moving anywhere fast.
Your pistol is for fighting your way back to your rifle
I love the .45, and Springfield makes it as well as I can afford; but it is quite heavy for carry on a normal daily basis. Although I, too, have one.
I became a fan of the Beretta 9mm (9000s). I find it fairly light and very accurate.
If I want it in my pocket, I carry the S&W airweight .38 special.
