Two months before the Iowa caucuses, Donald Trump finds himself in a familiar position: on top in the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
According to a Quinnipiac national survey released Wednesday, Trump leads Florida Sen. Marco Rubio by 10 points, with the billionaire real estate mogul receiving 27 percent support among GOP voters. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson are tied for third at 16 percent, followed by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (5 percent), who is a distant fourth. No other candidate in the Republican field registered more than 3 percent support in the poll.
Trumpâs double-digit lead combined with the inability of other GOP candidates like Bush to break through is causing panic among Republican operatives who expected the former âCelebrity Apprenticeâ star to stumble following his controversial comments about, well, virtually everyone.

Trump 10 pts ahead of his nearest rival.....
....it’s good to be the HISTORICAL GOP FRONTRUNNER!
Add at least 10% to that nationwide, and that’ll be closer to the truth to Trump’s lead.
Can Trump be stopped? LMAO....best laugh I have had today....
Are you kidding me? Since he announced his candidacy in June, 3 weeks later he was leading in the polls and hasn’t quit since...
I don’t see any other candidate out everyday in a rally or speech or talk interview or in studio talking...that guy has more energy than a 20 year old...he never stops...that is what great people do, they work and work hard, something our ‘snowflakes’ need to learn!!!
GO.TRUMP.GO!!!
“We are only 60 days out from the Iowa caucus with NH right behind. Hard to see a path to nomination for Cruz or Rubio.”
Cruz may win the Iowa Caucus. That changes your premise.
I'm wondering if any other candidate in recent history has been so dominant in the polls for so long? Anyone got any ideas?
I have repeatedly said its possible that Cruz could win Iowa although my money is still on Trump. But he’s not near a shot at any other state. Trump will likely run the table with the possible exception of Iowa.
Can Hilary Clinton be stopped?
Like it did for Huck?
“More importantly, who are all the idiots who think a candidate with the highest level of support “needs to be stopped”? “
The Press
The GOPe
Various interests on the right.
He’s messing up all of their conventional wisdom.
The evil corrupt in D.C./MSM better get ready.
Trump is coming DC.
100% in Commie panic mode. The MSM is in a freak-out.
At this point I think he’s the odds on fave for the nomination because the GOPe has proven to be so utterly inept. (A good thing).
But he is utterly unelectable.
I disagree.
I believe Donald Trump has (wide) appeal across the politican spectrum.
Historically so.
Sure he can be stopped....vote for the Bitch of Kosovo.
RNC can stop Donald Trump at the Convention, regardless how many delegates he has. If several conservatives stay in the race through all the primaries and Trump does not manage 8 50+% majorities he cannot, by the extant rules, even be considered at the convention. The RNC has to be somehow intimidated into accepting the will of the primary voters if anyone but the chosen gope is to be nominated. The primaries will be influential but do not actually decide. The RNC decides. The RNC and the big money donors are determined that Trump will not be nominated.
I have put that plan into operation already. I hope all of us do that.
Fantasies like this are comforting sometimes.
They certainly can and it is likely if it gets to the convention.
Everyone is trying to stop Trump.
