I’ve played less smooth games. 60 FPS would have been damn nice though. Oh well. Fair trade fir the graphic boost. In a couple years, Titans of this gen will be real cheap. Can’t wait to see what Fallout will look like once they get Realvision ported. There are a couple of that type now but they are still early in development. I’ll wait.

Just as a warning:

I snagged that Fallout anthology so I’d have the disks and cut down on the modding/reload times. Fully half of each of the games still have to be downloaded from steam.

Still got a cool mini nuke to keep their near-worthess selves to put on the shelf though.

Major breakthrough.

I kept reading up on Crossfire and something wasn’t adding up. I kept seeing guys talking about scary framerates on computer monitors running modded to hell Skyrim in Crossfire on lesser cards than 390s. And at HDMI rez or higher.

The more I dug, the more I learned about this black art. Are you ready for TeH StupidZ?

One of the fixes for the flicker is to run your game in windowed mode. Usually it works for a lot of people. Another fix involves various tweaks to the Skyrim profile that comes with the drivers. Ready for this?

The official Skyrim profile for crossfire shuts off one of the cards regardless of what you tell it. So does running in windowed mode. I was running, unbeknownst to me, on one frigging card.

Now of course, the flicker/microstutter came roaring back. The guilty parties have been isolated. Definitively. Antiailiasing and Depth of Field. Shut them down and you get high 50s/banging 60 (Max on this TV because of it’s refresh rate) with everything turned up over 80% or more. No overclock.

At 1440 there is really no need for antialiasing and DOF is optional anyway. I also traced the moment of the very occasional microstutter. The distant texture loads. It momentarily stutters when the objects snap into view.

Almost got this totally wired.
