Had to do it. Had to create the thread. The game is too damned good. This thread is reserved for hardcore gamers who play Fallout 4. Norm, KC, TADSLOS and I have hijacked so many threads discussing this game, I felt we needed our own thread.
Fallout 4 is amazing. The content is excessively large. There is so much to explore, you could replay this game 10 times and not find every mission or quest. The characters are so much better fleshed out than any other game I have played. Even the radio announcer of Diamond City Radio will have you doubling over in laughter, he's so inept at radio announcing. :) Your companions will pitch in with consistently new, sometimes insightful, and almost always area- or mission appropriate comments. I even got Piper (the hot Reporter chick) to sleep with me. It took a lot of sweet talking. But now she's in love. "Piper, how do you feel about our relationship?" Her answer: "Blue, this is as close to nirvana as I will ever find. Who knew a jaded reporter like me would find love in a wasteland?"
Fallout 4 is so graphics-intensive that I had to upgrade my video card to the GTX970 from Nividia, and I am so glad I did. 4 gigs of video memory, and a solid GPU array. Now I get 60 FPS (at the best) down to about 30 FOS (at the worst) with occasional dips to an unacceptable 24 FPS when in extremely busy, high clutter city areas with lots of combatants.
Our first topic: I want to mod the songs. I want change the Classical Radio Station to play songs I like.
I have six titles so far, that would fit in this game:
Filter's "Hey Man, Nice Shot" to be triggered during combat
Drowning Pool's "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor", also triggered during combat.
Lil Jon's "Turn Down For What"
Disturbed's "Down With The Sickness"
NIN's "Every Day Is Exactly The Same"
Any other suggestions?
me too me too me tooo!
Stick me on your list, please. No, I don’t play, but it’ll make for fun reading with you and Norm and HG and crew posting.
Ya’ll crazy.
And I’ll shut up and not be jumping in with off-topic crap.
LMAO.
I would definitely like to be included in any Fallout pinglist. Thanks, Laz.
I’m primarily a console player, but I’m going to upgrade my rig for this generation of consoles.
The Rockstar games (GTA/RDR/etc.) all have weird control schemes, so I can’t blame you for not wanting to play those games. I’ve never played LA Noire but have played the games in the other two series. Driving a vehicle/riding a horse and shooting at the same time is always somewhat awkward to get used to. Red Dead Redemption lets you set up the game so that you automatically lock-on to enemy heads (and unlike GTA, the lock-on works even when you’re in a ‘vehicle’).
I’ve played both Bioshock Infinite and Blood Dragon as well. Blood Dragon is basically an 80s nostalgia trip, and the guns when fully upgraded are ridiculous. Infinite is more hit and miss with the control scheme, and the story has neat atmosphere but gets too pretentious for its own good near the end. I enjoyed the game overall, though, and liked the atmosphere.
I have played a little of Final Fantasy 7 and found the game to be somewhat entertaining, but never finished it (and don’t personally understand why it’s so frequently called “the best game of all time”). I’ve never played Xenogears/Xenosaga, those sound like good recommendations. Do you know anything about Xenoblade for the Wii?
On the Fallout list plz Laz
On the list plz
I think FF7 was the stepping on point for millennial gamers so there’s that part. Then it was the first real 3D RPG of the FF series. The story was great as well. So it all came together to be more than the sum of it’s parts.
I vastly preferred FF8 and it’s still one of my top games, Killer story. Gameplay was fun. You finished the game with a feeling of having accomplished something.
Xwnoblade I have only read about but it was most of the same crew that did Gears and Saga. I hear nothing but good about it but it’s story connections to the others are minimal at best so it wasn’t enough for me to buy a Wi to play.
Xenogears is a head trip. One of the few games to ever score 10s from multiple legit sources. That one is all about the story and buddy is it loaded with story. Bring your mythology, bible and historical chops to the table because 20 years later I am STILL making connections I missed the first time. It is a love or hate game but if you love it, there is no better. It is worth tracking down a $100 Ebay copy and buying a PS1 to play for any RPG fanatic that somehow missed it.
Search an online translation for “Xenogears Perfect Works” to get an idea of what true depth looks like in a video game.
I guess it’s on Playstation network now though so thats a far easier and cheaper for PS3/4 guys path to bliss. FF8 too.
Xenosaga is high space opera with the above thrown in. There is a long story about how and why Gears and Saga are two same but different tellings of the same core tale. All of it financial and it is fascinating reading in and of itself. But ultimately there is KOSMOS, the hot android Japanibabe with some obscene horsepower that far predated the idea of... (wait for it)...
“Would you give your life for a synth?”
Sometimes it’s the simple defenses that work the best...;)
Thanks, I am so sick of the sodomites I will knock mass 3 off of the wants list.
Put me on.
But we look FAAAAAB-ulouSSSSSS!!!!
I’m a Brother, you know what I mean?
And I do my little turn in the wasteland
Yea In the wasteland, In the wasteland, yeah

Thank you for the suggestion about the Xenogears Perfect Works, I will definitely have to look in to that. I read a small amount of a translated version, and the world appears interesting to me (I love the notion of a “Great Collapse”, and also love stories which cover technology but which aren’t explicitly pro or anti technology ). It will probably be a PSN purchase for me if I ever get around to it.
This seems somewhat similar to Skyrim in that you have to work at understanding the world. Anything which can be viewed with new perspectives 20 years late rhas to be interesting.
Did you ever play the first two games? The agenda was in the first two games, but never to the ridiculous levels 3 reaches.
Oh it is. I think if they made that game today with the power of a modern console or PC and the unlimited space for storage available, the universe would divide by zero. It would take a Lord of the Rings size budget to do it ‘right’ though.
That sounds like hype but just read some of the praise/reviews for Gears. A lot of people really do have that sort of belief surrounding it.
Found the T60 Power Armor. Missing 2 pieces tho! Still. NOICE.
Ahem...
We of the Brotherhood have had T60 since about Lev 10. You just keep banging rocks together, wastelander. This is why you people can’t be trusted with technology. This is why you can’t have nice things...
You have been added to the Fallout 4 Ping List. Contact me to be placed on or taken off.
As soon as I can backstab the Brotherhood, I’m going to. I hate those sanctimonious, tech-greedy, selfish bastards.
