The Official Fallout 4 Thread
11/28./2015 | By Laz A. Mataz

Posted on 11/28/2015 7:53:03 PM PST by Lazamataz

Had to do it. Had to create the thread. The game is too damned good. This thread is reserved for hardcore gamers who play Fallout 4. Norm, KC, TADSLOS and I have hijacked so many threads discussing this game, I felt we needed our own thread.

Fallout 4 is amazing. The content is excessively large. There is so much to explore, you could replay this game 10 times and not find every mission or quest. The characters are so much better fleshed out than any other game I have played. Even the radio announcer of Diamond City Radio will have you doubling over in laughter, he's so inept at radio announcing. :) Your companions will pitch in with consistently new, sometimes insightful, and almost always area- or mission appropriate comments. I even got Piper (the hot Reporter chick) to sleep with me. It took a lot of sweet talking. But now she's in love. "Piper, how do you feel about our relationship?" Her answer: "Blue, this is as close to nirvana as I will ever find. Who knew a jaded reporter like me would find love in a wasteland?"

Fallout 4 is so graphics-intensive that I had to upgrade my video card to the GTX970 from Nividia, and I am so glad I did. 4 gigs of video memory, and a solid GPU array. Now I get 60 FPS (at the best) down to about 30 FOS (at the worst) with occasional dips to an unacceptable 24 FPS when in extremely busy, high clutter city areas with lots of combatants.

Our first topic: I want to mod the songs. I want change the Classical Radio Station to play songs I like.

I have six titles so far, that would fit in this game:

Filter's "Hey Man, Nice Shot" to be triggered during combat

Drowning Pool's "Let The Bodies Hit The Floor", also triggered during combat.

Lil Jon's "Turn Down For What"

Disturbed's "Down With The Sickness"

Metallica's "Enter Sandman"

NIN's "Every Day Is Exactly The Same"

Any other suggestions?

I tried playing as a Legion ally, it almost broke the game.

Bethesda allows the option of anti-hero then doesn't test the decision tree well.

In FO tin cans can be used as weapons or converted to ammo at the bench. In Skyrim, there are items which serve no purpose other than decoration. As far as pack-ratting goes, I find that I only ever carried a melee weapon or two and a bow in Skyrim, but I carried a full arsenal in Fallout, so YMMV. On the other hand, I found my inventory being stacked with lots of useless potions in Skyrim, whereas in FO food/water doesn’t take up as much weight and medicine/drugs take none (or almost none, if playing Hardcore) at all.

In Skyrim, I think your encumberance is raised every time you raise your stamina (which you can do every level), and there is no real hard cap for it. In the earlier FO games, you could only increase carrying capacity via increasing STR and picking the strong back perk.

My opinion: pack-ratting is much more natural in Skyrim.

The fifth endurance perk means you can breathe under water and take no radiation damage from swimming. :) That’s another favorite of mine.

I remember that, but your instructions were long and huge. I think I’m looking for the lowest effort for the highest payoff. I don’t need the Boobage, I got the hot Covenant chick to strip nearly naked just by handing her a dog collar. :)

Maybe you can help me out. I was enjoying FarCry 3 on my old video card, but I wanted FarCry 4 to be amazing, so I bought an EVGA 980 ti. Overkill? Maybe, but I’m tired of my computer struggling. But, it’s still struggling. I mean FC3 was improved, but it does a weird thing where it does a slow redraw of the scene when I first start the game. EVGA thought it was another component so were reluctant to let me RMA. I’ve moved over to my Wii U and just playing Super Mario Maker (which is fine, it’s great). But, I’d love to play Fallout 4 without hitches. IF my card is fine, which of these components needs to be replaced:

Intel i7-2600 @ 3.40GHz (can’t be OC’d)
8G RAM
Asus P8P67-M mobo

The processor and motherboard are at least 4 years old. I do get huge slowdowns with things like browsers if I’m doing something intensive, so I could have a memory issue.

Sorry to bug you, but this “super rig” has been lame since 2011 and I don’t know why. :(

I think the Beth crew are secretly conservative or at least right of center by and large. All their games have bad outcomes for liberal choices. Granted, thats reality based logic but in an ever increasingly liberal game environment (real world) they don’t make many left of center decisions.

They do have teh gayz and some other stuff but it isn’t in your face. It just mirrors real world stuff rather than push agendas.

I got 8g and only occasional slowdowns (which a reboot solves). Those are memory-leaks from bad C++ coders.

Far Cry 3 runs pretty well ever since I jacked it up from a GTX650 to the GTX970. I don't own Far Cry 4.

A 2011 rig is old now. Pop for a new box.

On my “good” characters, I always help out the small towns and kill off the NCR/Legion/House as quickly as possible. My character doesn’t need to rely on bureaucracies to get stuff done. I never end up using Boone because I hate the NCR too much (and he steals my kills), but I will befriend the Legion temporarily for the ridiculous amounts of ammo they give you.

On my “bad” characters, only the Vendortron, my followers, and Yes Man remain standing at the end of the game. The Legion get to live awhile, though.

Sure, but it has all the content you need other than boobage as well by name so it’s easy to get. Installing the high rez landscape/clothing/texture mods are pretty easy through nexus mod manager.

If you go into console and 'tcl' (toggle collisions) you can get into the Vendortron booth and kill him too. :)

I just worry that I’ll get new components and still have a pig of a system. But, yeah, my little mobo was sad even back then. It had some dividing problem that they patched, but I was told by someone that they quietly were recommending getting the newer versions. I don’t like that it’s a mini anyway. I guess I’ll try to build around the card in the new year (and demand an RMA if the card still does what it does).

Dude, seriously, I wonder if the dog-collar move (that makes the chicks strip) is an Easter Egg and I am one of the first to find it. Not all of them comply. Only a few. Generally, they are the hottest looking ones. :)

If I found an Easter Egg first, I’M GONNA BE SO EFFING PROUD.

I’m gonna post this s**t all over the Steam forums tomorrow. LOL

BTW, regular dog-collars don’t work. Has to be the Studded Dog Collar.

Sounds like a driver issue. Ram and processor are fine. MAYBE there is a bottleneck on the motherboard but I doubt it.

No way a 980 TI dogs on anything but extreme scenarios. I just added/upgraded a Radeon R9390 Strix 8GB card replacing a Radeon 7950HD2 3GB and have no real issues to speak of with a 4Ghz CPU and Z87 Asus motherboard. I can slow it down with all settings maxed in the deepest city wars in F4 but thats it.
