Meet *Slow Down Cat*, the work of artist Patrick Amiot. *Slow Down Cat* is 12-feet tall and lives atop a kelly green Caltrans trailer that is parked along mostly residential streets where speeding tends to be an issue. *Slow Down Cat* is lit by solar panels and holds a sign that purrs, *Slow Down.* Naturally, *Slow Down Cat* is rapidly becoming Sebastopol*s most popular resident.

Wow, I heard it’s hard to get by with English in Russia. This city must be an exception.
But it’s definitely Russia, given the left-wing ‘welcome’ sign.

I would say from the looks of this montaged photograph that it may well be a hoax.
the shadow cast by the cat...doesnt exactly match the rest of the shadows in the scene. there s NO shadowing on the alleged standard that the cat is perched on. survey says ...HOAX perpetrated by photoshop amatuer.

"How do you get to Sebastopol?"
"You drive north about 60 miles from San Francisco and then you turn left.
Far ... far .. Left !!! "

Whatever it is, they are tigers about it!

That photo is definitely Photoshop. I go by that intersection frequently and not only is there nothing there, there’s no ROOM for anything! LOL! But there was another photo of this thing on a little green trailer. I suppose the idea is that this cat gets trailered around to various spots. I’ve still never seen it anywhere in the area. So at the least, it must not be deployed often.

("Cruz." That's the answer. The question is obvious.)
To: Hetty_Fauxvert
the photo on the green trailer looks authentic.
Im not certain how safe it would be to deploy such an attraction near any sort of thoroughfare... given what a distraction it would be..
It’s not as though Sebastapol is Manhattan or LA, traffice wise...[ or otherwise] but people everywhere tend to drive towards whatever they are looking at....

Love that cat, as well as other sculptures we saw in Sebastopol last summer.
