This is a heartbreaking story, both literally and figuratively.

This isn’t uncommon, for couples to die within hours of each other. There’s also the theory that couples tend to look identical after long marriages.

I remember my grandma in the hospital dying of pancreatic cancer...one day she told grandpa she’d be waiting for him....he said he wouldn’t be long. He passed almost 6 months to the day that she did.

How wonderful for them, I mean that. It is a blessing for a couple in love to pass in that manner.

By the way, this coming Monday is the anniversary of the famous football game that put Doug Flutie on the map.
Boston College Eagles against Miami Hurricanes. BC won 47-45 on a Hail Mary pass play.
I remember watching that game. It was Thanksgiving weekend and I was in the Marine Corps stationed in California. It was a pretty incredible game but looking back at the clips, the quality of the video seems so prehistoric.

Doug, you were a great QB! I remember that hail Mary you threw when you at BC. That was the highlight of BC’s greatness...:-)

Similar thing happened to friends parents on Christmas Eve a few years ago. The husband went out to warm up the car. When he was backing up to the door, he ran over his wife. He got out to help her, not putting it into park, probably not thinking clearly, and the car moved back more and ran over him too while he was trying to help her. They were both in their 80’s and both died that night.
