This morning as we entered our church we were met by armed security guards. We also noticed a security guard in the back door. They were dress in black uniforms with a white word 'security' on their backs. We don't know how many were in the church. So I am wondering, is this a precaution to what had happened in Paris? We have several Persian Christian refugees that are members in our church and was wondering if these security officials were there for the Persian's protection? I am wondering if any others on this website witnessed the same precaution this morning at your church. Our church is the First Presbyterian Church in Seattle.
Why don’t you ask your pastor or whoever runs the place, why here???
I go to a small church with plenty of covert security.
same here brother
Even before this became the norm, the church I attended had a Texas Ranger attend, always armed
Our Pastor ridiculed the Starbucks Christmas cup issue. He got no Amens on it, though. Must be a lot of Christmas lovers in the congregation . . or maybe a lot of Donald Trump supporters. I can hope.
You don't know???? Why didn't you ask your pastor.......?
We had an announcement at our church that they have hired armed security details for every service including the children’s ministry. They will be sitting anonymously at every service. They will be carrying cocealed weapons and ready for any emergency.
OMG!! There is NO security in our Catholic Church but JESUS!!! ALL WE NEED!!
I didn’t know of any armed security officers in churches here in Cola. I guess I don’t keep up. Mine doesn’t and can’t see it happening.
You mean Christian churches are still allowed in Seattle?
We attend a mega Church, and I know there is a lot of stealth security that a lot of people don’t even notice or know about.
“any church security that keeps me from ccw is going to lose a parishioner”
Our security is nothing like that. People are not searched and it is NOT a gun free zone. We just know there are people in the sanctuary and the halls who carry, and have our backs.
I would venture a guess that 20% of the men in our church carry. The ushers are good decent vigilent men who discretely “guard” the congregation.
An attack on our church would end in the parking lot. ..and it wouldn’t surprise me if the police arrived to find some jihadi skulls crushed and no witnesses.
probably half of our church is packing. If any Muslims come through our doors with a vest on they are going to exit in a hearse no questions asked. Better to be safe than sorry.
Screw that.
I hear ya bro, what are you doing wasting your time in church anyway?
No armed security at my church, but my priest said “It’s time for war.”
We had a pre-planned “Remember the Persecuted Church,” service. It fit in quite nicely since ISIS was, in most cases, the persecutors.
My church has at least one CCW at mass.
In our church we said prayers for the victims and relatives and first-responders. And prayers for justice.
And while Jesus HAS already saved my soul, I figure I can still weigh in on saving myself and those that I love around me. King David and his fighting off the wolves and bears as a youth, Goliath as a teen, and hordes of others as King give me comfort.
