I couldnt believe my eyes or ears when Ben Carson was asked about what his response would have been had he been president on 9/11. I couldnt believe his answer. He said that a better response than sending troops to Afghanistan to hunt down al Qaida would have been to make an all out effort to achieve energy independence.
Carson was only echoing what he wrote in his book 'America the Beautiful':
'After the 9/11 crisis almost everyone united behind President George W. Bush for a reason. Whether Americas ensuing steps into war in Afghanistan and Iraq will be seen as positive remains to be seen, but I canât help thinking there may have been a better way to react that would not have cost us so many lives and financial capital. I believe that if the president had seized the moment and declared that we would become petroleum independent within the next 10 years as part of our efforts to strip terrorism of its resources, that business, industry, academia, & everyone else would have been foursquare behind him, and we would have been much further ahead in the fight against terrorism than we are today.'
So we are on notice. If terrorists attack America on our soil and kill 3,000 people, a President Ben Carson would not send in the troops. And our enemies are on notice, too.
This remarkable remark should rule him out as a presidential candidate. We needed to send in troops to keep al Qaida on its heels to keep the terrorists hopping from cave to cave, lest they be caught in the open and killed.
In the days after 9/11, nobody would have predicted that there would be no more attacks of that magnitude. It was our presence in Afghanistan that stopped al Qaida from getting its act together sufficiently to pull off a sequel.
Energy independence is well and good. And it is now within our grasp. But it took the new technology of fracking and a great deal of energy conservation to achieve it. (We are using over 1 million fewer barrels of oil per day now than we did in 2000.) It took us more than a decade to get where we are. To see this as an adequate response to such an attack is absurd.
No more Ben Carson for me!
Just wondering if Carson would suggest the correct response to the attack on Pearl Harbor should have been the country needs to become more pineapple independent?
Here’s a Headline: Citing and discussing a Candidate’s Policy Positions Are Not Personal Attacks! At least not on this planet.
More than that. Removing energy dependence on the Middle East would mean freedom to make a host of independent moves without being held hostage to what it wants. Right now it might as well have a sword to our throat, that sword called the threat of stopping the oil.
One does not have to hagiographize Carson to realize this.
As scary as it is, your hypothetical may be too close to reality.
Got it. According to you two
Daily childish personal attacks posting at Carson...good
Asking real questions about St Teds record....bad.
That's true. Dick "Romney Landslide" Morris wrote it a couple months ago.
Rush started, now rest of Rush programme will be on RESCUE CARSON.
Carson might not have ignored some of the peace feelers by Japan that FDR did. This is something that could result from such a what-if game, at least.
The only reason we have not already become energy independent is Liberals.
I take it you support the “no response” position of Carson on 9/11. Do you also support TPP, gun control, amnesty and statehood for Puerto Rico?
That certainly makes Carson sound very conservative, then.
There are many causes for vitamin B12 deficiency.
Surprisingly, two of them are practices often undertaken to improve health:
1. Vegetarian diet
2. weight-loss surgery.

A primary sign of low B12 levels is a constant lack of energy.
Oct 26, 2015 - On Friday in Miami, Trump had ripped Carson for having even less energy than Jeb Bush, whom Trump has called low-energy.
Carson is done, today Huckbee, Christie etc all want clarification and no sympathy for Carson.
International media is having field day on Carson.
It may be because of his religion.
From Wikipedia.org
The Seventh Day Adventist Reform Movement’s official position as conscientious objectors[29] in relation to war and military service reflects the pacifist position of the Seventh-day Adventist Church during the 1861-1865 American Civil War. This is in direct response to what L. R. Conradi and others presented to the members and distinct from the official Seventh-day Adventist Church position which is one of non-combatancy, though in practice Seventh-day Adventist members have served in combatant roles in the military services.[30]
Looks like Glenn Beck may have been right after all by comparing Carson to Jimmy Carter
I think the abuse reporting system is broken. I have been reporting you regularly and gotten ZERO response. I will admit that I used apostrophe’s in my reports, so maybe that is the issue here.
So far Rush is defending Carson on the West Point story. We all know that was a false story. It is his stand on things like TPP and the 51 state deal that we have moved on to. Rush so far is behind the curve. We shall see what Rush has to say on the rest of his show.
You are exactly right. I have been noting that his Pacifist beliefs make him entirely unsuitable to be Commander in Chief.
I look at Carson’s liberal policies and weak national security stance and he becomes Obama and Carter all rolled into one.
[Never mind, Rush Limbaugh will come for his rescue.]
Well he’s at it again today, I think his well deserved hatred of the media has overcome the fact that Dr. Carson needs to be looked at for some of his (Carson) questionable statements and actions.
Let’s hope it doesn’t take up half his air time today.
