In the midst of a veritable buffet of key college football games, there's a movement afoot in Missouri that could have long-lasting reverberations across the sport.
According to a tweet from the account of Mizzou's Legion of Black Collegians, players of color on the Tigers football team "will no longer participate in any football related activities until President Tim Wolfe resigns or is removed due to his negligence toward marginalized students' experiences." Wolfe and the university has come under heavy criticism of late for responses to race-related events on the campus.

Title makes one think they were referring to Obama, at first glance.
The university should revoke the scholarships and send the boys back to the ghetto.
I’d make it simple. Bring each player in....one at a time...and let the university explain that they only get free education while carrying out their scholarship obligation. No participation....no college. Real simple.
Give them three days to think about this, and then ‘fire’ them.
These are all punks who are naive and unable to comprehend the purpose of the scholarship program.
The guy is burned toast - what a wimp. This type of cave reminds me of some of the first hippie sit-ins at college presidents’ offices, where instead of having the trespassers arrested and kicked out, they gave in to their demands. The hippies at first couldn’t believe that they had won so easily. After they got over their shock, they were totally emboldened and only increased their demands in subsequent takeovers of administration buildings. Those initial caves by adults to snot faced, spoiled brats is what has led to where we are today. And it seems that nothing has changed - no adults in sight.
“Today I again had the opportunity to meet with MU graduate student Jonathan Butler who continues a hunger strike protesting the inequalities, inequities, and obstacles faced by students, faculty and staff at the University of Missouri. I am very concerned about Jonathanâs health. His voice for social justice is important and powerful. He is being heard and I am listening. I am thankful for the leadership provided by him and the other student leaders in raising awareness of racism, injustice, and intolerance. This afternoon I also met with representatives of several student groups and I value their input and hear their voices.
Racism does exist at our university and it is unacceptable. It is a long-standing, systemic problem which daily affects our family of students, faculty and staff. I am sorry this is the case. I truly want all members of our university community to feel included, valued and safe.
I regret my reaction at the MU homecoming parade when the ConcernedStudent1950 group approached my car. I am sorry, and my apology is long overdue. My behavior seemed like I did not care. That was not my intention. I was caught off guard in that moment. Nonetheless, had I gotten out of the car to acknowledge the students and talk with them perhaps we wouldnât be where we are today. I am asking us to move forward in addressing the racism that exists at our university â and it does exist. Together we must rise to the challenge of combatting racism, injustice, and intolerance.”
White is a color.
At least the sixties protesters had a war to protest.
What we have now is malcontents making up shit as they
go along. Marcus Garvey, we need you now more than ever.
Send these people back to their native lands.
White is all colors, a diversity of color.
Black is the lack of color.
#AllColorsMatter
“Marcus Garvey, we need you now more than ever.
Send these people back to their native lands.”
I’ve become more and more convinced that two groups of people...
1. whose members are easily identifiable as belonging to a one of the two groups, and
2. who have significantly different AVERAGE IQs (> one standard deviation)
...cannot coexist peacefully together, given that human nature is what it is.
(This also applies to groups of people whose world views are diametrically opposed, islamist vs west, Nazism vs the west, communism vs the west, etc).
Couldn’t agree more.
Show some guts, Mizzou, call their bluff.
Ok. Wreck your lives over some perceived insult. We don’t care. And your race card is over extended. So FU.
/obviously not directed at the FReeper OP
Can they be fined as a photographer who refuses to photograph a gay wedding ceremonial smooch would be?
“...marginalized students’ experiences.”
Some puppetmaster is certainly behind this.
People colored White not so much.
I hope they all get benched, released from the team and lose their scholarships.
You’re here to learn, kids, not boss around the adults.
What are they protesting about?
What these players sign is a " Athletic Aid Agreement " which is a contract.
If they don't meet the demands of the contract, they are in breech...See you later...
I wonder how many of these boneheads realize they signed their free education, free room and board, free books, free food away...
NCAA scholarship violations are serious matter. :)
Persons of color? The grammatically correct way to say that is colored person. I thought we weren’t supposed to say that anymore.
