I won’t comment one way or another on Woodrow Wilson, or your statement on Democrats, but don’t claim William Jennings Bryan was a communist, fellow traveler, heck, even Useful Idiot. Yes, he may be a democrat, but even HE would not have supported communism. As a matter of fact, when touring Europe, he was genuinely disgusted with the concept of Darwin being taught there, and even suspected that was the cause for World War I. Also, he was against the teaching of Darwinism in our schools. Let’s not forget, Karl Marx was a Darwinist to such an extent that he essentially credited Darwin as one of the major influences on Communism.
If anyone was backing Communism and the Soviets during that time, it was the OTHER party in the Scopes Monkey Trial, namely Roger Baldwin, the head of the ACLU.
But I do agree, the Versailles treaty was stupid, and just made World War II inevitable. I’m not going to bash France, though, mostly because I still want it to come back to being the Sister of Rome that it once was before 1789 happened.
