Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones backed defensive lineman Greg Hardy on Friday after photos of Hardyâs bruised ex-girlfriend from a domestic violence incident surfaced on the sports-oriented website Deadspin.
*snip*
"We do not condone domestic violence," Jones said. "We entered into the agreement with Greg fully understanding that there would be scrutiny and criticism."

Perfect example there! I hope the statutes of limitation haven't expired on Corzine's crimes, and President Trump (or President Cruz) can get a piece of him.
Maybe Jones doesn't know what the word "condone" means.
Maybe he meant "condemn".
I have selective memory, but now I do remember those incidents.
I also recall that Landry dealt with them—but don’t remember exactly how he did it.
Selective memory is a wonderful thing. LOL!
JJ and I are the same age. Even if I had his money, I couldn’t live his life. Too exhausting.
No. I'm a Pats fan and so is my wife, but we, and most football fans in New England and elsewhere greatly admire THEM. They played the game the right way and they won. They were America's team. Not anymore.
Me, too, basil. The thing we tend to gloss over is that, when Landry was fired, the Cowboys had been in a slump for some time. As I recall, they crashed when he abandoned the multiple offense/flex defense. Maybe the NFL had figured out his scheme, I don’t know. But the disgust fans displayed at what the Cowboys had become seemed to take the heart out of Landry. The club I dote on is Jimmy Johnson and the triplets.
I remember during the nineties, a commentator said there were three levels in the NFL. At the top were the Cowboys, below them were the 49ers, and below them was everybody else. Those were the days.
Since these photos were nearly two years old and since then he missed a season and served the leagues suspension, and am having a little bit of trouble understanding by Jones or the Cowboys are now supposed to be compelled to cut him. This is old news and just a hit on Jones, the Cowboys and Texas by the leftwing Northeast media.
These same people had NO problem making a hero of someone involved in murder but played without any penalty in Baltimore. That guy was turned into a hero.
Pathetic to see middle aged men sporting the jerseys of these thugs and hero worshipping “their” team. Get a life.
Forget the Cowboys......Dallas needs to get behind some real winners, the Stars, who are kicking butt so far.
In my opinion, Jerry Jones is a dementia addled fool.
My mother died with dementia, so I know it when I see it.
Jones isn’t demented.
“Wasnât Golden Richards busted for indecent exposure?”
No, it was not Golden Richards. Lance Rentzel was the actual culprit. He later wrote a book and cashed-in on the scandal.
“And you know Hollywood Henderson snorted cocaine during games from an inhaler he hid in his pants, right?”
Yes, I know about that. Years after he retired, he won millions in the lottery. Some people, no matter how depraved, are blessed with good luck.
Lance Rentzel, right. I get those two mixed up.
“These same people had NO problem making a hero of someone involved in murder but played without any penalty in Baltimore. That guy was turned into a hero.”
Ah, but that same ‘hero’ “opened his heart to the Lord,” and if you believe that, I own a very famous bridge in New York which I could sell to you real cheap. ;-)
I’m less than half his age, and the way he lives would wear ME out. lol
Michael Vick had no comment.
Amen to that.
my condolences to you and your family. in my reference to Jerry Jones I must affirm that in my observation of what little I know about his affairs, it seems his decision making is corrupted. Sticking with a failed QB for years, long after he should be gone is akin to Einsteins definition of insanity. Endorsing Hardy as he has seems wholly inadequate for any reasonable person to understand.
Everyone, including Cowboy faithful, were ripping into Jerry going into last season, as pretty much everyone had given up on his/their ability to build a successful team. Low and behold, all their ‘wasted’ draft picks on offensive linemen produced the best line in the league, the most prolific running back and a nice playoff run. I’ll be the first to criticize the guy, but their plan worked quite well. They would easily be locking up a division championship right now early in a sub-par division if not for losing their QB and a ton of other key position players. The failed Jones strategy wasn’t the failure most made it out to be.
This week is nothing more than an invented media attack. The facts were known about the events of two years ago. The player didn’t play last year and served his league punishment by people who saw these very photos. The details of the case were well known, and the guy is given a second chance. Now visual evidence being released is being used as a propaganda piece to invent new outrage. If the guy didn’t deserve the change to play, the league should have banned him. If he didn’t play in Dallas, he’d be playing somewhere else.
