I admit I brought my diabetes on myself by lousy eating habits, being obese and not exercising. Today these faults have been mostly corrected and my diabetes has improved considerably, but I am by no means cured.
Additionally, as I get older, my diabetes is getting harder to control. This is because the pancreas, which produces the necessary insulin, is wearing out. It's now necessary for me to drop my carbs even further and keep my weight under control, or I will need insulin.
Congrats on managing to correct all that—that’s not easy!

My husband has a good friend who swears by the prickly pear cactus. He was following his diabetic diet, skinny as a rail, but couldn’t keep his BG under control. He was on insulin and still running around 300.
His new wife is half Native American and she convinced him to start using it. He said he had to make adjustments on how much he ate of it/drank the juice but within several months he was off insulin completely and said he’s happy he gets to eat ice cream every so often again.
He talked some other guys at work into trying it and they say it’s working. I tried it for about a month but that wasn’t long enough for me to see results. The store we bought it from went out of business and I’ve had much more important things going on with my health I just haven’t thought about it. You may want to try it. I’m going to try and find another Mexican store to get it from.
