This isnât about how long you sit in traffic. That's just one part of it. This is about the entire godawful experience that is commuting on the US interstate system, day in and day out, navigating around terrifying Final Destination-esque scenarios, jostled by relentless potholes that the bottleneck-inducing, 365-days-a-year construction never seems to fix.
Here are the absolute worst freeways in America, as determined by a metric of suck that weâre calling the Total Horribleness Index. Basically, we combed through a ton of data from the Federal Highway Administration to find out just how awful a city's traffic really is. It's based on three main factors:

On fridays, especially in the summer, I95 is a parking lot from Boston, MA to Richmond, VA.
Believe me, I have driven it and it sucks.
It seems like the city residents are all heading out of town every Friday.
Everybody drink!

Glad to see the Surekill Expressway made the list.
“This list is invalid.”
“Not even ONE mention of what has been called âthe worst traffic in Americaâ...Seattle. I-5, I-405, both are utter nightmares.”
Luckily, one can always avoid heavy Seattle area traffic - just take the by-pass!

True story. My wife has booked a flight in and my sister a flight out on Christmas Day 2013 so I could do a single airport run. Who would think PennDOT would work Christmas Day? Well, they had one lane closed on the Squirrel Hill Tunnel. We couldn't tell that they were doing a damn thing . . . just had one of the inbound lanes closed and were stacking up traffic like morning rush hour just for pure spite.
Sis barely made her flight.
Everybody drink!

LOL........
Drink responsibly.
Drive responsibly.
Text responsibly.
IOW, Drink, drive, and text responsibly.
It’s not an Interstate but...Route 128, the highway that is a semi-circle around Boston...is a a parking lot from 8am to 10am and 3pm to 6pm on weekdays. It takes 1 hour to go 3 miles.
The man with the last name of “Chugabrew” is telling me to drink responsibly.
Kinda like Miley Cyrus telling girls to save themselves for their wedding night.
Got it.

Cross Bronx Expressway. The worst. Backed up 24/7 and road conditions like a Zimbabwe roller coaster
It’s been five years, but we made a couple of trips from SoCal up to Sacramento via I-5....it was so “washboard” that you felt like you had to pee every fifteen minutes.
Didn’t you hear, all the billions of highway funds have been diverted to local and state welfare programs. Now we need to borrow again, but this time it will be trillions and yes, it will all be diverted again.
In case you were unaware, the “drink responsibly” command is not one of my invention. The concoction wherein I recently employed it, however . . .
When I moved to Texas in 1984, they were working on I-35 in Hillsboro, they are still working on I-35 in Hillsboro.
There is NO place to pull over on the CBE
Too bad those funds couldn’t have been used to buy shovels for those welfare recipients...
Yeah...but at least you get to look forward to passing by the Big Blue Bug.
