Just heard this morning that the wife and one son are being investigated as well. Just unreal

It seems odd his weapon was found several feet away in the grass. Granted, the nature of his wound would have given him time to throw it, but I’ll wait for forensics before I believe it was self-inflicted.

Suicide is always tragic. The decent thing to do is come clean and try to make some amends.

**authorities confirmed for the first time that Fox Lake police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz was shot with his own weapon. He was struck by two rounds, one that hit his ballistic vest with the force of a “sledgehammer” and another that pierced his upper chest, said Lake County Major Crimes Task Force Commander George Filenko.**

“The weapon could have been fired by Lt. Gliniewicz or he could have been in a close proximity of the weapon being fired,” Filenko said. He refused to provide any details on what the signs of the struggle were.

What adds to the confusion is that the county coroner was unable to rule the 52-year-old Gliniewicz’s death a homicide, suicide or an accident.

We’ll have to wait and see.

Now comes a report that the cop was having an affair.

And passed his mistress off onto his son, an active member of the military.

The son apparently married his father’s mistress, in order to collect more benefits as a married soldier on active duty...

The mind reels...

Oh gracious! Dreadful. It’s going to take the community a long time to heal from this.

In my wildest imagination, I couldn’t conceive of such insanity.

Any moment, I’m expecting someone to say that he suffered of PTSD, and wasn’t responsible for his actions.

It makes me wonder: Did tests (they did check, right?) for GSR on the officer's hand come back positive? How many rounds had been fired from the weapon?

The former may be inconclusive if more rounds than the two which hit the officer had been fired, and may indicate that the officer had been overpowered, dragged/carried off (shedding gear on the way) and shot with his own weapon.

I would hope the investigators are ruling out all possibilities in this.

I saw an account that the GSR was inconclusive.

Not sure about the # of rounds.

A newer account had him meeting with a biker gang member to arrange for a *hit* on the lady who was uncovering his embezzlements.

Okay, here's my take, just for 'fun'.

Police officer is investigating loss of funds from community program. Arranges to meet with someone to get info. Is jumped, dragged off into weeds by a group, shedding gear on the way. Is shot once with own pistol, (hit body armor), shot again (mortal wound), perps discard pistol and leave officer for dead.

Son cries foul and story grows to discredit whole family, son, wife, etc.

Someone investigating this is the one who siphoned off the money and the deceased officer is the fall guy.

This doesn't make any worse a teevee plot than what they are saying.

The trail leads back to dirty cops, in the above scenario, but not necessarily the deceased.--oh, and blame bikers, right?

This *someone* was newly brought in to investigate....doubt if she had the time to embezzle the funds.

I think his erased [but recovered] texts convict him of a lot of shenanigans.

Perhaps, but that still doesn't mean he shot himself.

Agreed - my comment was mainly tongue in cheek because when it comes to politicians, so few seem to have the moral fiber to do the right thing.

Good to see the post was tongue in cheek.

Though FR has a disgusting amount of posts which are pro-violence to liberals. Just watch out for these. Today two people said that a woman who lost her son to violence in Chicago were worth less than a dead cat. I guess because they live in Chicago people on FR can wish them the worst.

Almost makes me wonder are we worse than the liberals?
