I am a Progressive Conservative.
I base this on the definition of the word "progress". From the Merriam-Webster site: "the process of improving or developing something over a period of time".
Among conservatives who follow the news, this word would seem almost a contradiction. They are used to hearing the word associated with liberalism and socialism. It appears those movements have co-opted a perfectly positive word "progressive" with its root word meaning of improvement.
My sense is that the average person sees the word "progressive" and thinks "progress". This average person has little connection to secular campuses in which 'progressive' is proclaimed as some kind of march toward socialism. My sense is that those folks see the word "progress", have been taught that "progress" is a good thing, and so they think that "progressive" is about improvement. Little do they know that it is being abused by liberals and socialists.
So, as an example, I am in favor of a progressive conservative approach to immigration and illegal immigration. It is progress for a country to go from a border that would make it easy for terrorists to slip across to a border which is almost impossible for terrorists to violate. It is NOT 'progress' to get rid of borders altogether or to allow unchecked immigration from any country, much less a country like Syria with radical groups that hate us.
I would say to Hillary Clinton and to Jeb Bush that only liberals say it is progress to have open borders. Progressive Conservatives think that is not progress at all. That would be going backward. Real progress, real improvement is the real control of borders, visas, coasts, ports, and airports.Â
I am a PROGRESSive Conservative. I will argue with these so-called progressive liberals about what really is an improvement, about what really is progress any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
It is not progress to have its people out of work. Progressive Conservatives don't see that as progress at all. We believe that a person is happier and improving in self-esteem and self-actualization when they are working, producing, creating. And an added benefit is that the country also improves. Liberalism -- progressive liberals -- thinks that it's just fine to have the highest number of people in our history not able to find jobs. They call that progress. But liberalism has always led to decay, so their ideas on ' progress would also lead to decay. Progressive liberalism leads to decayed families, communities, states, and nations. Just look at all the socialist and liberal nations around the world to see the clear truth of this. Except for a socialist liberal, who in their right mind would say that a gulag -- a prison camp for the people -- is progress?
Take the word back, folks. And it is too easy. Simply state, "That's not progress. Progressive Conservatism says that real improvement is found in folks being able to fend for themselves without the intrusion of Big Brother telling them what to do."
We are the ones proclaiming real progress in economics, education, family, law, religion, justice, foreign policy, the military...in fact, in ANY area of life.
I'm a PROGRESSive Conservative. Join with me and start touting real Progress. Reclaim the word. This word is easily reclaimed.

Num 16:1-2
16 Korah son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and certain Reubenites â Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth â became insolent 2 and rose up against Moses. With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council.

Rutro - Trouble in Progressiville/River City!
>> Also, Nebuchadnezzar wasnât the issue.
LOL.
The Zars of Babylon, and of the other temporal state-establishments who covet the bride of Christ, have ALWAYS been an issue.
You pulled Moses and Korah out of your biblical hat to counter a discussion about the definition of the word progress?
Say something serious and I might get back with you.
>>Romans 1:25 doesnât apply to believers,
Oh it applies to everyone, and every culture, for whom created things become objects of worship.
What do you suppose it was in American culture that invoked the punitive response described in Romans 1?
PROGRESS, worship of; 1 each.
Illogical and a little bit corny.
At this point, I perceive that you are just trying to argue for its own sake.
>>You pulled Moses and Korah out of your biblical hat to counter a discussion about the definition of the word progress?
Progress is hardly anything new.
“These are your [progressive] gods oh Israel - who led you out of Eqypt.”
Ring any Ba’als?
Same ol’ progressamanure, different municipal state-established toilet.
Don’t add to or take away from.
Amen to that, xzins!
Because of WHAT?
Gave them over to WHAT?
Is “progress” a created thing?
At this point, I perceive you’re really not much different from the progressive liberals in whose dialectic reflection you preen your progressive plumage.
“Thinking themselves to be wise, they became _______”?
Troll.
Read the comments.
Maybe if you tell the class why Lucifer is confused with Nebuchadnezzar it would shed some progressive light on the subject.
Was Lucifer progressive?
“Please allow me to introduce myself
I’m a man of wealth and taste
I’ve been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man’s soul and faith
And I was ‘round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate”..

Bingo. “progress”.
Eccl 2:4-11
4 I undertook great projects: I built houses for myself and planted vineyards. 5 I made gardens and parks and planted all kinds of fruit trees in them. 6 I made reservoirs to water groves of flourishing trees. 7 I bought male and female slaves and had other slaves who were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me. 8 I amassed silver and gold for myself, and the treasure of kings and provinces. I acquired men and women singers, and a harem as well â the delights of the heart of man. 9 I became greater by far than anyone in Jerusalem before me. In all this my wisdom stayed with me.
10 I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor.
11 Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind;
nothing was gained under the sun.

This is the kind of "PROGRESS" the world covets instead of edifying the body of Christ in it; and yet "conservatives" wonder why human nature has led us back through Romans 1:25+, again.
Yep.
Daniel 4: 34...
I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever.
His dominion is an eternal dominion;
his kingdom endures from generation to generation.
35
All the peoples of the earth
are regarded as nothing.
He does as he pleases
with the powers of heaven
and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand
or say to him: âWhat have you done?â
36 At the same time that my sanity was restored, my honor and splendor were returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my throne and became even greater than before. 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
Real progressives believe in progress of, by, and for society.
- Article 1 Section 8.:
- The Congress shall have power . . . To promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries . . .
Ersatz “Progressives” believe in progress of, by, and for government.
“Society” and “government” are two different things, as Thomas Paine already had to point out in 1776.
>> And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
Uhuh.
Romans 1:25+
And the word progress has meant “improvement” for generations.
