Cats ARE neurotic - and they're probably also trying to work out how to kill you, say researchers

I love dogs, Great Danes in particular. My daughter snuck one into my house years ago and that monster horse grew on me. I’m 6’2” and I could pick up his paws at the dew claws and he was way taller than me stretched out.

It was a marvel to see him stretched out full gallop across the yard..... I loved him. Caleb was his name

Yep- they have worked out an elaborate plan to get us at our most vulnerable- 1/2 asleep- they run over to people’s feet first thing I n the morning, weave in and out of our legs, and wham- we’re on the floor and they are standing over us licking their lips waiting for us to stop breathing

There’s actually an hilarious book published that purports to be the secret murder plans of a housecat.

Mine know when it’s dinner time. They come to me every day at the same time and start milling around and talking to me. The artificial switch of daylight saving time throws them off for weeks (me too).

One, the female, comes into my bedroom, jumps up on me and wakes me two minutes before the alarm goes off. How does she know?

I can attest to this fact.

My boy turned the gas on my stove one night while we were in bed. Filled our entire house with gas. How it didn’t blow sky high I’ll never know other than to say by the grace of God we are ass still alive. The knobs get pulled off the stove now when we aren’t cooking.

And our cat.....he’s still plotting our demise.

See my post #25. My coworkers bought me that book after the cat tried to blow us up.

I’m sorry a murderer lives among you. If it makes you feel better, one lives with me as well. She’s black and today is her satanic holiday.

Cats sound an awful like my ex-wife.

“I’m convinced that none of the “researchers” has had a cat, as they seem to know very little about cats in a good domestic setting.”

You are sooooooooo correct!!

I used to be a cat hater simply because they seemed to fit the description from the article. Since then we’ve had a house cat, the cat seldom leaves the home, since it was a kitten. From my experiences I’ve learned there are three kinds of cats:

1. The total outdoor cat, such as a barn cat, yard cat or one that runs wild in the forest. They will bite, scratch and do what ever to you. Most of them cannot be tamed. You cannot approach them without their running away, even if you feed them regularly. We feed several of these.

2. The house cat that has some outdoor time. For some reason many of these will scratch and bite and appear to be quite wild, where at times they are very friendly. (our neighbors have them, always biting and scratching)

3. The total house cat. Very smart, about as smart as a dog. Wife thinks they are smarter. Very affectionate. Our cat has never bitten us, or any one else. She loves to play, she loves to sit in our laps. She does not get on food surfaces (kitchen table, counter tops etc). She’s scared to death of going outside.

For the first time in 30 years, I am fortunate enough to have a gas stove. But, because of the fear that one of the cats will jump up and accidentally turn one of the knobs, we have placed gas/carbon monoxide alarms on each floor. They plug right into the wall, and have battery backup.

Pretty silly isn’t it? Even coming from your own kids.

It is who they hang out with and not how you raised them.

Animals go outside.
