“The results from the 2012 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), which are being released on Tuesday, show that teenagers in the U.S. slipped from 25th to 31st in math since 2009; from 20th to 24th in science; and from 11th to 21st in reading, according to the National Center for Education Statistics, which gathers and analyzes the data in the U.S.”

Just wow!

Common Core sucks but didn’t cause these scores. This is a result of Liberal policies like don’t hold children back, you get a 20 avg. you pass with a c etc.It is also a result of inner city students who could’t care less bout eduaction because you can make a lot of money selling drugs and sitting on your azz in welfare.

Virtually impossible for me to believe the post as it has Israel near or at the bottom in science and math.

Here’s the happy news from Detroit:

(CNSNews.com) - In the Detroit public school district, 96 percent of eighth graders are not proficient in mathematics and 93 percent are not proficient in reading.

That is according to the results of the 2015 National Assessment of Educational Progress tests published by the Department of Education’s National Center for Educational Statistics.

Only 4 percent of Detroit public school eighth graders are proficient or better in math and only 7 percent in reading. This is despite the fact that in the 2011-2012 school year—the latest for which the Department of Education has reported the financial data—the Detroit public schools had “total expenditures” of $18,361 per student and “current expenditures” of $13,330 per student

Primarily Homogeneous vs. Primarily Heterogeneous

These stats are like crack cocaine to lobbyist pimping new "educational" ideas like common core for instance.

"Hey Mr. or Ms. politician critter/Department of Education drone, look how these Asian/European countries are putting a beat-down on American kids."

A rational political creature would insist on comparing Asian countries to Asian Americans. Dutch vs. Dutch Americans, Germans to German Americans etc... before disrupting a positive time tested curriculum. p

Of course that is "racist".

Without having exactly the same testing across all national boundaries these charts are crap.

And since US edumacashun standards are so dismal why would foreigners come to the next step up in that racket-— American universities?

The clear Big School solution to problems here in the US is obvious though——MO’ MONEY!

Common Core will fundamentally transform the United States lower in the academic rankings ... at great financial cost.
