Play Ball
Of course they are.
Looks like it's the Kansas City Royals vs Flushing Meadows, NJ Mets to me but then I'm from Kansas City!
Being that I’m a midwesterner, I’ll root for the Royals - just like I did last year.
But all in all, I’m not a big basebasll fan. I only pay passing attention thru the season as to what teams are hot and who are not. Same with the play-offs.
Oddly enough, if it was the Cardinals and the Mets, I’d probably find myself rooting for the Mets.
hmmmm......do I root for the Royals, as they are a small market team just like my Pittsburgh Pirates, and hence are continually defecated upon by the powers that be at Major League Baseball?
Or do I root for the Mets, simply because if they win it will really p*ss off Yankee fans?
Decisions decisions.
Huh ??????????
,
Flushing Meadows is in Queens, a NYC borough, not in New Jersey. Now, if you want to talk football, NY only has one team, the Buffalo bills. The other two both play in NJ.
I'm a New Englander. GO ROYALS!!
Yep. Just the “also rans”, right? HA. We have gone each of the past 3 years to see the Yankees play in KC (due to it is close and affordable). So we have seen the Royals 3 times, so must root for the Royals, also it is the closest team, and many Royals fans here in Nebraska.
A team that tees-up 95+ MPH fastballs against a pitching staff that is herald for its 95+ MPH fastballs.
Here, if it was in Parkville, we'd call it Parkville, Raytown, Grandview, or wherever, just not claim it was Kansas City, even though it was a suburb (or borough!)
Simple math: 1980 Royals Lose to Philly
1985 Royals Win over St Louis
2014 Royals Lose to San Fran
2015 Royals Win Series over Mets
Go Royals!
Queens is definitely part of New York state and New York City.
You tell ‘em, God luvs America!
Regards,
To be honest, when the County built the Truman Sports complex, it is in Independence as I recall. Now the Royals were already a KC team playing at the old stadium off Brooklyn Ave.
Flushing Meadows is a park in Queens, NYC.
The Mets are 100% NY.
Regards,
PS: The Mets are just about the ONLY thing I like about being a (reluctant) NYer.
"Flushing Meadows"
Isn’t Independence east of Kansas City?
Those stadiums are on the west side of KCMO as I recall.
In fact I think some of the parking lots are
actually in Kansas.
Nope, the sports complex is in that area of KC, Independence and Raytown, with the bulk of the complex in KC, that’s why the city and county residents get first dibs on tickets.
Mets in 5!
