UNITED NATIONS – Japan's prime minister said Tuesday that his nation needs to attend to its own demographic challenges posed by falling birth rates and an aging population before opening its doors to refugees.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced at the U.N. General Assembly that Japan is ramping up assistance in response to the exodus of refugees to Europe from the Middle East and Africa.

What a novel concept prioritizing your own citizens needs before invading hordes....

Japs never liked outsiders. Truth comes out.

But they’ll be OK because they’re not white.

"…..challenges posed by falling birth rates and an aging population……"

Which is exactly why our government leaves the door wide open.

Taking care of its own citizens first. What a novel idea. I wish we could get the morons in this country to think that way.

I just can’t imagine Japan taking a bunch of Syrians or Libyans. The idea on the face of it is absolutely ridiculous. They would be so out of place in Japan it would be a sad joke. They would absolutely never fit it, become an immediate underclass, and be a source of constant agitation.

For its problems, their cultural unity is why Japan, as a nation and culture, will be around long after the United States is gone.

Outstanding, Japan!

Gee what I would give for a government that actually cared about its citizens at all.

According to Ministry of Justice data, it accepted just 11 asylum seekers out of a record 5,000 applications last year . . .

The most common reason for rejecting applications is "unlikely to be self-sustainable or happy in Japanese society." Now, why can't we do likewise?

Even during the salad days of immigration during the Ellis Island era, we rejected many would-be immigrants for nearly identical reasons though, I believe, the exact wording was "likely to become wards of the state or held values incompatible with the ideals of Americans." Yes, that meant that we rejected self-identified Communists.

Yep. Even when Commodore Perry visited the nation, he was greeted with hostility and skepticism.

If Japan was truly worried about fortifying their plummeting population, I think they would first consider pulling in low wage workers from other predominately light complected asian nations, such as Thailand, Hong Kong or the Philipines.

demographic challenges posed by falling birth rates

Merkel told us the young Muslim men were needed as workers due to falling birth rates in Germany. So who is right?

On a lot of very liberal colleges these days, Asian is the new “Jew” of the 1930’s.

Asians are looked down upon because they get higher grades and work harder.

If there were truly a problem with labor in Japan or any other "aging" country, then there would be massive cost push wage inflation. I see none of that ANYWHERE.

Japan will resort to cloning before they do that.
