I'm torn on that issue. Here's a great example in a thread:
Club for Growth claims credit as Trump drops in Iowa Scroll down and you can see a nice GIF of triumphant Hillary walking into the Benghazi hearing and high fiving the E Liar Cummings guy (I think that's him) except he doesn't high five back because he is not as stupid as she is. Instead he extends his had for a more professional (but just as biased) handshake.
A great animation but not a related thread and it takes up 5.5MB of my precious BW. Ok not precious but a chunk of my time.

Part of the reason I like FR is the clever photos and gigs. Usually more entertaining than the comments

What about the folks that enjoy large animated gifs ? That doesn't matter, everyone must yield to the complainers in today's world.
