I have an eMachines T3092 running XP, SP3, with an AMD Athlon XP 2600+, 213GHz, 1GB RAM (please HOLD the snarky comments).
My graphics/online video/synch performance is terrible. How can I upgrade my PC for better video performance (preferably a plug-in card).
Thanks.
It’s a waste of time and money. Even the cheapest new computer will outperform that.
Microsoft isn’t supporting XP anymore and that machine is vulnerable. Antivirus software won’t protect an obsolete OS.
Get a new machine.
“btw - I DOUBT your computer is 213Ghz. :)”
Soooo many doubters when we need believers!
forgot the . after the 2
OMG, that’s perfectly funny. . .LOL
Website says it is an Athlon 3000. With some memory and a graphics card, it will play Call of Duty 3. BTDT
With the machine you described, you’re probably not going to get great video performance from modern webstreaming sites. They are all expecting newer computers that can handle HD streaming and have upgraded the sites accordingly.
It’s really not the video card that is going to be causing you problems with videos, that is more an issue for 3D graphics, like you find in computer games. What is causing your problem is mostly lack of RAM memory. One gig is probably around half the memory a video plugin will ask for in order to stream video nowadays, so your computer is probably being forced to compensate by using your hard drive for virtual memory, which means a big performance drop.
It’s not going to happen.
Your computer is the essence of obsolete. It has integrated graphics and it was born to be slow, it uses the 1ghz memory RAM you have.
I know money can be tight but, it’s highly unlikely you would find any parts. Computers change so rapidly and most computers as basic as yours have long been scrapped.
Do you have software that cleans the disk? I use Ccleaner and find it excellent, too much garbage on your computer will slow it down. Here’s a link to the specs of your computer, if other Freepers have any ideas.

You need to know the wattage of your power supply and the video card requirements. My video card says 400 watts as minimum while my work pc from Dell uses a video card that uses 30 watts. 30
I have a second XP computer, with a 4650 Radion Graphic Card.
That should make a big difference.
P.S. just noticed that is an AGP motherboard, so you won’t get any newer cards to work with it, and good luck finding an AGP card these days. Sorry but time to put the old girl out to pasture and get a new machine...
you can get a decent refurbished laptop for around $300 these days that is a year or two old but still 10 times better- can you really not afford that?
You can get the Radion Graphic Card for as low as $22.00.
I write for a living. The crappy, tiny laptop keyboards are unusable.
Does it plug into the T3092?
I write computer software for a living... i have used nothing but laptop keyboards for over a decade with no problem- in fact I prefer it.
I can see the lighted keyboard and program software at night in my bed... when I am sometimes most creative
