Mets 8 Cubs 3
I’d bet he can’t. They weren’t stars (quite deliberately.)
I found another link with a couple of additional Lane Field photos and a pretty goo article. The one in question was 1954, Sep 13th to be exact.

One of the most useless, character-less ballparks ever built. At least Citi Field has character.
Speaking of San Diego, there have been three perfect games in Yankees history.
Two of the games were pitched by San Diego natives, Don Larsen and David Wells. The third perfect game was pitched by David Cone, who wasn't from San Diego, but both Dan Larsen and David Wells were at the game.
:)
From your link here is an Interesting picture of Ted William at Lane Field in 36-37.
Not this fan. I’ve been rooting for the Mets since 1964, and have never given up on them.
But I will admit that there ARE plenty of fair-weather friends in the Met camp.
Oh well....on to the Series!
Let’s Go Mets!
Regards,
When you’re hot you’re hot!
Does he displace the previous Mr. October???? I hope so!!
I love to learn interesting facts and statistics!
Thank you so much for telling me.
I remember that Don Larsen game and I remember reading about David Wells!!! Happy news that the two heroes named above were at David Cone’s perfect pitched game - or is pitch perfect game? Nah, pitch perfect is musical...LOL. Maybe pitched perfect?
I need an LY in there somewhere.
Perfectly pitched game.
Another one?
I should add that Larsen and Wells were at Cone's perfect game because it was Yogi Berra Day. And Yogi was Larsen's perfect game catcher.
or is pitch perfect game?
Onyx, you had it right the first time.
:)
Cheers.
Another interesting historical fact!
Thank you so much!
God bless and hold dear, very much loved and revered Yogi.
I've been a Yankee fan since 1964.
This years Met team is very likable.
Congratulations.
Thank you, FreeReign. It’s been a looooooong time waiting.
LOL
I tell my kids that being a Met fan is character building. It teaches patience, loyalty, perseverance, and stick-to-it-iveness. Not to mention how to deal with soul-crushing disappointment.
This year’s lesson: How to win gracefully (but with enthusiasm and a smidgen of out-and-out hysteria).
Let’s Go Mets!
Regards,
LOL I got a 2fer........MIL and Obama Cub fan........LOL happy dance!!!!!
I was in love with Ted Williams! Shows how far back I go with baseball.
Big Sox fan. Married NJ, hated the Yankees, and became a BIG Mets fan.
GO METS!
What???
I can’t imagine how unbearable Cubs fans would be if they ever won anything. They haven’t won since 1908, and they are still annoying.
Cool! Should be a good series. Now go KC!
That is old school.
Congratulations to all of the Mets fans out there.
