.@JebBush, At the debate you said your brother kept us safe- I wanted to be nice & did not mention the WTC came down during his watch, 9/11.
(Excerpt) Read more at twitter.com ...
Right after 911 the libs went after Bush blaming him and almost accusing him of being complicit. I came to his defense. But then Bush went off the rails trying to appease the Muslims and eventually turning them into a protected minority. The whole Islamophobia crap started in the Bush White house where he tried to distance himself from those of us who recognized that this was a Holy War. His “War on Terrorism” completely failed to recognize the goals of the terrorists. It’s like we went to war against some idea that people were randomly committing acts of terrorism.
The Bush Administration was negligent and the buck stops at Bush. If he had recognized the enemy when he took office - Islamic Jihad - then maybe he would have been able to prevent the attack. Instead we got the compassionate conservative who deliberately turned Iraq into an Islamic Republic which then went to war against the Jews and Christians.
If you don’t recognize the errors of the Bush Administration in their silly “War on Terrorism” and the pandering to Islamists worldwide, then you are doomed to repeat those errors.
He tried to nice-talk Islam. In the end it didn’t work. Would have been far better to say he doesn’t care what they call it, jihad or terrorism or freedom fighting, but if they don’t stop these evil attacks he vows they will be wiped out.
And the problem with “liberals’” approach is that it is two faced. They will rub your nose in a problem, and then do everything in their power to perpetuate the problem. Just for the sheer hatred of it.
In the end we lost two wars because he failed to recognize the enemy. He thought he could bring Muslims into the 21st Century. He thought he could bring democracy to a land where democracy is ridiculed and the Koran is the only law.
Operation Iraqi Freedom? Freedom from Jews and Christians.
Wasted two wars because we had no sensible idea of an end game.
I think that it is obvious what Trump is doing. Right now, he's running against a Bush and right now he wants to push his opponent's emotional buttons. GWB just happens to be his opponent's brother.
But, none of it means anything.
So, you are saying that the fact that President Bush kept us safe is a lie? So, is your sole criteria on whether or not someone kept us safe is whether or not anyone died on their watch? Maybe you don’t realize that people died on President Reagan’s watch; did he or did he not keep us safe?
Likewise, is it utterly irrelevant that the Clinton administration were unhelpful, to say the least, during the transition period? Is it irrelevant that Mr. Al Gore was obstructing the handover process?
I think you are blinded to the context of the times.
And, in defense of Governor Jeb Bush, I think his remarks applied to actions taken after 9/11. Yes, our countrymen still died even after that point, but you are taking the remarks out of context.
Thanks for the insult and your implied superiority. Securing a relatively easily secured border during war time is basic stuff. It is not like he had to choose between controlling the border and massively growing government as he did. Bush could have done both. I don’t hate Bush. I believe he is a good man but he wasn’t a very good President. Trump is correct when he says Bush gave us Obama and that probably no republican could have been elected after Bush in 2008. He really screwed up his second term and managed to alienate many people who may have been inclined to vote for a republican.
There is only one problem with your assertion. That is in fact NOT what Jeb said.
He said "he kept us Safe" and yet the towers fell and thousands died on his watch and our economy crashed. And that is not even close to any definition of the word "safe"...
Was it the President's fault? No, I don't think that for a minute but I would never assert that he kept us safe from harm when almost 3000 of my countrymen died in attack on American Soil.
grania wrote: Instead, GWB gave us a "war on terror" that never ends.
And don't forget Dubya's Big Government reaction to a non-existent problem:
The Sexual Assaulters...
TSA was unnecessary after Flight 93. Bush merely continued the Big Government approach of treating airline passengers as sheep, which approach was the proximate cause of 9/11 in the first place (it's a FEDERAL CRIME for mere airline passenger peasants to interfere with hijackers!!!, until 9/12/2001).
You've been hating on The Trump for months now, woofie.
Enough with the pretend "epiphany".
How ya like that safety and national security?
How about when Bush celebrated Cinco De Mayo up in the White House while flooding the country with tens of millions of illegals during war time?
Or allowing in more Muslims AFTER 911 than the previous two decades prior to 911.
This is keeping America safe?
Yes I don’t trust Trump and I think he is a bad idea. And I have disliked him from day one. However I encourage everyone to vote for whoever the Republican nominee is because I firmly believe Democrats are worse,
I wanted McCaine , and Romney to win once they became the nominee even though I wasn’t crazy about them
Now I am faced with having to swallow my own medicine.
If Trump becomes the Republican nominee I feel bound to support him as I will hope like hell he is better than Hillary , Biden or whoever.
Im also trying to bend my mind around the fact that a lot of people including Rush Limbaugh are supportive of him. In other words I want to have an open mind about Trump.
But every timeTrump makes me mad I vacillate and think I will not be able to support him even if he is the nominee . When the time comes to vote I have no idea if I will be able to pull the lever for him or not. We shall see.
I think I can understand why a person who likes McCain and Romney would not like Trump. There is a world between those sides.
No it is not keeping America safe.
I would not have a problem with Trump pointing out particular things that could have been done better to keep us safer.
The problem I have is the way he left it out there that somehow W was to blame for 9/11.
If he wanted to talk about security after 9/11, fine.
But the 9/11 attack is not the type of thing any Republican should be using to attack another republican.
I just wish he would have a little filter on some of the things he says.
I would like him a lot more if he had held back on just a couple of things he said...
1. No reason for the Megyn Kelly “bleeding” comment.
2. No reason to put the 9/11 comment out there unless he was going to talk about security and/or policies to keep something like 9/11 from happening again.
The country is going to hell, trillions in debt to Communist countries, were being over run by millions here illegally, middle America is all but dead on the floor, mass unemployment and you bring up Trump's tone? Megyn Kelly?
Please, bother someone else with this juvenile nagging over totally insignificant BS. Thanks.
Trump is not making you mad.
The TeeVee & the newspapers are making you mad about Trump.
This mind manipulation is why people like Perky Katie Couric make $7500 an hour (not including bennies!). Just start laughing at the obvious attempts by the media at assassinating Trump's character, and attempting to make him grovel at the feet of the Matsters of American PC.
He's playing with them. If Palin had had the experience of Trump when they attacked her from the moment she declared, the McLame-Palin ticket would have been victorious.
Palin would have annihilated them. Look at her now - she's a kinder, gentler Trump, but she beats their @sses like a rented mule.
Trump's perfectly good reason(s) was to see if he could "release Megyn's Inner Female Dog" (Mission Accomplished!), and to slam a couple of cream pies in the faces of the Masters of American PC (again, Mission Accomplished!).
They cried like little girls. :)
I’m juvenile for bringing it up but Trunp is saving the country by using comments like that?
And Trump tweeting at 2 am because some nobody said something bad about him (not juvenile?)
Got it!!
I was just using those two examples to show you how sometimes he says things that are not necessary to make his point.
Whether you believe it or not, Trump can be off putting when he doesn’t have to be.
Do you not think some people will hear some of his “less than presidential” comments and sour on him?
He could act just a little bit more presidential and I think would reach more voters.
Look I’m not against Trump. He Is bringing a lot of good ideas to the forefront (tax reduction, building a wall, and other ideas as well).
But in my opinion he is going to need every vote in the general election that he can get (assuming he’s the nominee).
That is the only point I was trying to make.
“Bush was generally problematic both domestically and abroad for me and many. He was prone to political correctness, didnt put bin Laden away when he could have, took his eye off the ball in Afghanistan, and went on his ill-advised adventure in Iraq. But 9-11 wasnt because of Bush, it was becasue of Clinton.”
I didn’t say Bush was responsible for the attack, just the disasterous and poorly-conceived response to it. That feckless response didn’t make us safer, it just wasted billions of our dollars and cost thousands of precious American lives.
If he has been willing to actually be a war president, instead of just play-acting one, we would have been far off. Instead we got “religion of peace” and “your duty is to keep shopping.”
