IMHO, it can’t hold a candle to the REAL ‘SOS’, creamed chipped beef :-)

Also good. When you’re cold and hungry, Army SOS tasted like a Christmas feast.

My Army Dad made us SOS with chipped beef. Learned later it was the only nonperishable form of beef during WWII.
Then we got Swiss steak, & Salisbury steak, but these didn’t taste like REAL steak, which was a luxury for us.
Only when I was in the Army did I learn what “SOS” stands for. Kinda like “snafu”.

Last time we had a large family gathering I was talking to an aunt about chipped beef. She was saying how insanely easy it was to make with the storebought drief beef. The seed was planted and there the next weekend when I was home I got a flat of 6 biscuits from the day-old rack, a package of dried beef, and the next morning I made the whole batch. It was breakfast lunch and dinner... only addition the gravy needed was solved on the plate with a peppermill.
Oh... I think I was supposed to mention alfalfa sprouts here. Oops.
