Matthew 19...

24

Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."

25

When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and said, "Who then can be saved?"

26

Jesus looked at them and said, "For human beings this is impossible, but for God all things are possible."

... People always leave out the part that puts the 99% on equal footing with the 1%.

The more that governments control the wealth, the more wealth concentrates at the top. People still haven’t figured out the connection.

Its just a mystery. Who can explain it.

And how many of those are here in the US? I suspect the vast majority. It really isn’t that difficult to amass a net worth of 1 million, esp for farmers and business owners.

This is idiocy.

Since when has Fortune been a propaganda arm of the DNC?

There are probably 34 million people in the US with a net worth of a million.

It’s not much.

And how new is this supposed 1% with 50%?

It’s probably been along these lines through all human recorded history. In fact probably even more so in the past and ancient world.

That is easy to explain. Only 1% of the people are really smart, really ambitious, really hard working and somewhat lucky.

At the base of the global wealth pyramid are those with a net worth of less than $10,000, who account for a massive 71% of the world’s adult population.

That is an amazing factoid.....

So... anyone who has a million bucks is included?

From what I read these days, that’s far more than one percent....

If you make more than $47,000 US dollars, you are in the top 1%. Why omit this info from this story? Also, if you include the top 2%, you include US welfare recipients!

relax..people don’t live forever, even rich ones. history has shown that he mega rich families, heirs of vast amounts of wealth, don’t keep it for long - it reverts back to the masses, the producers.

Neat!  The article is based on a report by Credit Suisse and they don't say wealth concentration is bad, they just say there's a 'debate'.  That's good because the top 1% controlling 1/2 the world's wealth are American (from here)

The 1%: Half of the world's wealthiest people live in the U.S.

Like, the U.S. has most of the world's corporate stock (from  Can the U.S. Remain An International Financial Center?):

--and pay all the bills: Top 1% pay nearly half of federal income taxes - CNBC.com.  That reminds me, why is it that the left has a problem w/ the 1% having half the wealth, but no problem w/ the 1% paying half the taxes...

Wow, the bulk of the world is so very poor.

Maybe they should try Capitalism since Socialism has been a disaster for the average person everywhere from Europe to Asia to Africa.

The Walton family is the richest family in the United States and one of the richest in the world. They are heirs to the Walmart fortune and the company’s largest shareholders, with over fifty percent ownership of stock in the retail giant.

Sam Walton and his brother Bud opened their first Walmart discount store in 1962. Today three family members serve on Walmart’s board of directors; Rob is the chair, and sits on the board with his brother Jim and his son-in-law, Greg Penner.

The six Waltons on Forbes’ list of wealthiest Americans have a net worth of $144.7 billion. This fiscal year three Waltons—Rob, Jim, and Alice (and the various entities that they control)—will receive an estimated $3.1 billion in Walmart dividends from their majority stake in the company.

The Waltons aren’t just the face of the 1%; they’re the face of the 0.000001%. The Waltons have more wealth than 42% of American families combined.

The problem isn’t that the 1% control 50% of the wealth, it’s that the .001% control governments.

If you do the math even if we took HALF of everything the top 1% had and gave to the other 99% each person would get 12,867 dollars. My guess is that within a few years they would have spent all of that and the money would go right back to the top 1% again.
